I peak through the bedroom door, down into the hallway. It was empty. There was no sign of Red as I edged out. I couldn't hear a thing as I held my breath ready to run at the sight of anyone I didn't know.

For all I knew it wasn't just Red and Gabriela. They'd killed enough of Lucians security, so it would make sense for there to be more than just the two of them. As I took slow steps towards the stairs it only just dawned on me how loud the floorboard creaked as I walked. Or was it just me imagining it as I tried to be as quiet as possible? I peered over the side of the banister as I looked at the floor below. There was no movement so I took the first step to the stairs, hoping no one would come at me from out of the dark. It was all I could think about until I heard the loud bang and the ringing echo of a gun shot in the distance that sent a shot of fear and adrenaline coursing through my veins, forcing me to run. All I could picture was Gabriela pointing a smoking gun at Lucian's body sat slumped in a chair. But as I made it to the bottom of the stairs and took off running towards Lucian study an arm reached out of a dark shadow, grabbing me and shoving my back into a wall hard.

'Should have stayed where you were.' Red smirks, baring his teeth at me as he stalked me.

He looked like a wild animal, burning his eyes into me as I tried to regain my breath.

'You know, I could have made Gabriela happy in another life, but for some reason she just can't leave your husband alone.'

'Please, I have to save him.' I beg him, hoping he'll help me.

'You think I'm going to help you? For what? Some sort of atonement?' He chuckles. 'You want to know what I'm going to do?'

I shake my head, keeping my eyes pinned on him, waiting for him to do something.

'Your husband's been with my woman. Seems only fair I repay him the favour?'

'What?' I whimper, feeling the air leave my lungs.

'I'm going to fuck you until you forget him.' He tells me, taking a step towards me.

I try to move, but the second my back leaves the wall I feel Red hands land on me, pushing me back as he leans into me.

'I've thought about this for a while, you know. Ever since the first time I had to pull your panties down. I imagined what it would feel like to slide my cock into you. I bet I'm bigger than your husband. I could fuck you so much better than he can.'

I feel a wave of repulsion at his words. My skin feels as if it were actually crawling as his breath touched my neck. I didn't want him near me, let alone touching me, but I had nothing to defend myself with. So I did the only thing I could think to do to get me closer to Lucian.

'Not what I heard.' I whisper into his ear.

'What?' He hisses.

'I think the phrase Gabriela used was nobody could hold a candle to Lucian and that she'd never came so hard in her life? I might be power phrasing.' I shrug my shoulders acting nonchalant.

The smug look on my face at pissing him off doesn't last long when the back of his hand strikes my cheek, knocking me to the floor.

I scramble to my feet as quickly as I can, moving away from the wall he had me pinned to.

'You stupid bitch, I'll make you regret that.' He tells me as he lunges for me.

His breathing is erratic as he grabs hold of my shoulders, but before he can pin me against the wall again I try to fight him off. I swing my arms and scratch at him, but it does little to affect him. It was all I could think to do until Lucians combat sessions popped into my head.

Knee me. If you raise your whole leg I can grab your ankle and knock you over.  Don't give your opponent the opportunity.

With Lucians voice in the back of my mind I take a deep breath, calming myself as I ready to defend myself.

Quickly I raise my knee between Reds legs, hitting him hard enough he lets go of me to hold himself.

'Ah, you bitch.' He breathes as he screw his face up in pain.

With his eyes closed I take the opportunity to lunge forward, using the palm of my hand to drive into his nose. The hall echoes with a loud crack as Red toppled over, crying in pain. I can't believe it worked. I did it. I stopped him. But as I stood there watching him with the word run on repeat in my mind I see something metallic lying on the floor, calling my name. As soon as I go to make a move Red notices and then looks to what I was reaching for. Panic shoots across his face as he also lunges for the gun just sitting there on the ground. Red throws his body weight on top of mind in an attempt to stop me reaching it first. But he's not quick enough as my hand wraps around the handle. I feel his hand grip my shoulder, turning me to face him and as he spins my body around my fingers tightens on the trigger, releasing the loudest bang I've ever heard in my life. Instinctively my eyes close as if that'll help the ringing in my ear, but it does nothing. When the ringing does die down I dare to open my eyes, hear the faintest gasp of breath. My eyes lock onto Reds as he sits on top of me. I feel the same fear as before knowing Lucians warnings about letting my opponent get me to the floor. Now I'm at Reds mercy as he holds the barrel of the gun, pointing it away from him. It's takes me a moment to realise he wasn't moving. He wasn't doing anything apart from sitting there looking at me. It wasn't until my eyes drop down to his chest where a circle of red slowly soaked the front of his shirt. Reds eyes follow mine down to the small hole in his chest as more and more blood started to ooze from it. A cough escaped his lips as he bought up a little blood before a flash of realisation shot across his face. His body slumped forward and just as he collapsed I pushed at his chest, forcing him to the side of me, so he didn't crush me into the ground. I laid there for a second as to catch my breath and when I sat up I could see the blood on my hands. The literally red liquid, staining my hand from the man I just killed that laid on the floor next to me, but I didn't have long to cry over it when I heard Gabriela's voice shrieking from Lucians study.

'Red, get in here and bring the body with you.' She shouts, assuming it was it was me who got shot and not Red.

For a second I felt a smugness wash over me until I heard a cry from Lucian.

'I kill you.' He screamed. 'You're fucking dead.'

'Oh no honey, you are.' She teased him.

How wrong she was...
