The birds chirped outside her window as she hummed to the radio playing behind her.
She ran her hands on a textbook she borrowed from work as she heard Jane and Darcy talking loudly from outside her small bedroom where she spent most of her time outside of work.
She looked at an image of a blue crystal trapped in a clear crystal box as she read the small paragraph underneath explaining what it was.
After the mysterious attack in New York, the university she worked at fought hard for the stone involved and after fighting sheild for it the stone was in every textbook and was taught in many classes as well as held in the science department.
She looked at her phone and then closed the textbook so she could use the little time she had left to make a coffee before work.
Her life wasn't the most amusing but it fit her well and that was enough.
She walked into the kitchen and turned on the coffee pot as Jane walked into the room.
"I thought you left already.
You hardly made any noise all morning" she said as she moved past her to get to the fridge.
"I was reading.
I got up early anyways so all the noise I made was when you were still asleep" Anna said as she watched the coffee pot pour hot coffee in her favourite mug.
"As always.
You know you are welcome to read out here while I do my work.
I barely see you so it would be nice to actually see you and know the things you're working on" Jane said.
Anna looked at her with sad eyes.
"I'm sorry.
I guess I'm used to working alone now" Anna said.
Jane looked at her.
"I know you'll say no to this but do you maybe sorta want to go out tonight?
It's Darcy's birthday and like me, she misses you too" Jane said.
Anna poured sugar and milk into her coffee before looking at Jane.
"Sure.
I just might not stay late" Anna said.
Jane smiled "Alright I will take that.
Meet me at the dive bar next to that old bookstore that shut down a while ago at 10 pm" Jane said.
"I look forward to it.
I'll see you later" Anna said before grabbing her things.
She took a deep breath as she got in her car.
It will be fun.

Hours passed as the students left for the day leaving the janitor and the teachers.
Anna sat in an empty room with the blue stone trapped in a glass box for Anna's safety.
She wrote notes on its description as she found it to be the most beautiful thing she had ever seen.
The way it shimmered when the light hit it was mesmerizing.
She turned the box before tapping the glass.
Suddenly it began to glow brighter than before.
She sat up straight as she looked at it.
She then gasped as it cracked the glass leaving the stone unprotected on the table.
Anna tilted her head before reaching her hand out.
She touched the box surrounding the stone before gasping harshly as her eyes rolled back into her head.
It felt like an electric shock as the stone's power rushed through her veins turning her blood blue.
She then looked at the stone as she came out of it.
She looked at her hands before seeing a blue aura surrounding them.
Anna looked at the stone before running out of the room.
She didn't know what had happened but knew whatever it was wasn't good.
She ran out of the school before freeing as her blood pressure dropped.
Suddenly everything went black as she fell limp outside the school not knowing what she awakened when she touched that stone.
