You know that scene in the movies where there's a couple running through a field full of flowers. That's where I see myself  with Chris Watson. I stare at his sharp blue eyes and his mousey brown hair blowing through the wind. Chris Watson is the guy of my dreams- literally. I open my eyes as my bedroom floor hits my face. My head is pounding as I lay on the cold hard wood.
"Laura Baker when are you going to stop dreaming about a guy that doesn't know your name."
I look up to see my best friend Stephanie. I always love seeing her light brown eyes and her perfect ginger hair first thing in the morning.
"Good morning to you to steph." As I pull myself of the floor.
"Come on we're gonna be late for the first day of school."
I had almost forgotten that it was the first day of school, it's not like I have anything to be happy about. I only have one friend, I never make any of the sports teams- much less try out. I always get a locker that smells like rotten cheese. And I always get the seat at the back of the room with the kids that stick their heads in their books the whole class.
My life sucks and it's going to suck even more now that summer is over and school's back.
Me and Stephanie pull into the Hickory High school parking lot, I step out the car with a load of books in my hand and my backpack hanging from my shoulders. I take a deep breath in and start walking towards the school. As I'm walking I start to think that today could be a good day, right up until someone bumps into me and sends me flying to the floor.
"Hey watch where your-"
I stop. Chris Watts was standing more then a feet away from me with his best friend Adam standing beside him. Adam has hazel eyes and dark blonde hair but not half as cute as Chris. Those two were like brothers but Chris is more sweet and dreamy and Adam is more obnoxious and loud. I quickly grab my books off the floor and jump to my feet.
"Sorry about that.....ummm,"
"Laura- it's Laura."
"Nice to meet you Laura."
Chris and Adam walk away, I look at Stephanie and practically jump into her arms.
"OMG did you see that? He said it was nice to meet me!"
"Laura you guys have been in the same class since the fifth grade, I think he's meet you a couple times"
"Yeah but we actually talked and there were sparks flying it was magical."
Stephanie starts laughing. The bell rang and Stephanie starts walking again I shrugged my shoulders and followed her.
"See you at lunch?" I asked Stephanie.
"Where else am I supposed to get food?" Stephanie said with a smile and walked away.
I walk into my homeroom class and everything looks the same. Cheerleaders and jocks in the front, average kids in the middle. And finally the kids with their heads in their books in the back with an empty seat calling my name.
On the first day the first thing they give you is your locker which is the worst part of my day. Mrs. Clarkson is my homeroom teacher this year which I don't mind because she never gives out homework and she has a heart the size of a soccer ball. She walks over to me and gives me a piece of paper with my locker number and my combination .
"Welcome back Ms. Baker."
"It's good to be back." I replied.
I looked at the piece of paper locker 269, I hope this one has a decent smell. I roam the hallways until I find locker 269 I turn the corner and spot it beside the girls washroom. I look at the combination (18 36 6) easy I've been opening lockers for years. But it looked like this locker didn't want to open. I tried my combination more times then I can count, I guess I can forget about this being a good day. I kicked the locker and the door comes swinging open smacking me in the face and landing me on the floor again. I hear footsteps from down the hallway, great somebody to make fun of my locker attacking me. I look up to see who it is and my face goes red, Chris Watson is walking towards me he stops and bends down.
"I don't know if you know this but you look cute when your on the ground."
"That makes my head hurt less." I say embarrassed.
Chris laughs and holds out his hand to help me of the ground.
"You're Laura right? I'm Chris."
" I know who you are, who doesn't."
He laughs and flips his hair to the side. I can't help but stare into his beautiful eyes.
"How come you know me but I don't know you." Chris asked.
"Because people actually want to know who you are, no one wants to know who I am." I replied.
"Well I want to know who you are."
I looked at him and tried not to smile.
"Friends?"
"Friends." I answered
