I told my mom to drive me to school, I couldn't risk seeing Stephanie or Chris. Which now that I think about it is kind of stupid because we have 3 classes together. I haven't talked to either one of them since Stephanie told me she was the reason Tiffany and Chris broke up. When those words came out her mouth, I didn't say a word I just grabbed my stuff and left her house. Chris has been calling my phone non stop for the past two days, but I just send them to voicemail. I grab my books from my locker and head to my first class. I walk in and see Chris and Stephanie sitting beside each other, it looked like they were arguing. They stopped as soon as they see me, I sit down on the opposite side of the room. I look beside me and see Mark Wilson, a guy with sea green eyes and brown hair. Me and him have never been friends but I try to talk to him anyways.
"Hey Mark"
Mark looks up from his book to me
"Hey Laura"
"What are you reading?" I ask.
"How to get a girlfriend for dummies" Mark replies.
For a second I look at mark, we both start laughing and his laugh reminded me of Chris.
"So are you and Stephanie in a fight?" Mark asks.
"What makes you think that?"
"Your talking to me, we haven't talked since the Christmas dance in the sixth grade when I asked you to dance and you said no"Mark says.
"Hey I didn't say no, I said I had to go the the washroom" I replied.
"Yeah and you never came back"
"Well consider this me coming back"
Mark smiled
"Sounds good to me"
The bell rang and Mr. Flynn walks into the room, I couldn't focus on what he way saying because Chris and Stephanie were whispering to each other.
"Mr. Watson and Ms. Thompson are you planning on joining us"
Mr. Flynn said with a angry voice, I look over at Chris and Stephanie and they both had a sorry looks on their face. I look away and turn back to Mr. Flynn. The last bell rang and it was finally time to go home I stood in the parking lot and waited for my mom. So far I see no sign of Chris or Stephanie anywhere. My mom pulls into the parking lot and I hop it.
"Hey mom"
"Hey honey, how was school" she asks.
"It was fine"
"So are you going to tell me why I had to drop you off and pick you up"
"So we could have some mother daughter time" I reply.
Mom looked at me with one eye brow lifted
"Is this about you and Stephanie?" she asks.
"Me and Stephanie are fine"
"Then why does she call the house phone every two hours looking for you" mom ask raising her voice.
"Okay maybe we had an argument" I omit.
"You guys have arguments but end up having a sleepover the same night, this is something different"
I look out the window trying to avoid the conversation. We pulled into the drive way and Chris was sitting on the porch. For a second I wanted to tell my mom to pull the car back out and take me to China but I get out the car anyway. My mom shoots me a "look who it is" look
"Hello Chris"
My mom said cheerfully
"Hi Mrs baker"
My mom shoots me another look before going inside.
"You have 30 seconds to tell me why you're here" I say to Chris.
"Laura" Chris begins.
"29,28,27"
"Okay okay, after me and Tiffany broke up I meet Stephanie" he says.
"Go on"
"We started talking and hanging out but we were never anything serious, until one day Tiffany seen us together and assumed that I dumbed her for Stephanie and I just went along with it so she would stop bugging me about getting back together"
"So where do I come in this?" I ask.
"On the first day of school when I meet you, I knew that there was something about you. So I told Stephanie that we had to break off whatever we were and she didn't take it so well"
"So that's why you guys we're fighting"
"Yeah, I was trying to tell her that we had to keep what we had away from you" Chris says with a sigh.
I sit down beside Chris and put my hand in his, I finally open my mouth to say something but Chris puts is hand over my cheek, leans over and kisses me.
"Stephanie only listens to herself anything anyone else says goes throw one ear and out the other"
I say with a smile
"Yeah I learned that the hard way" Chris replies.
My mom opens the door and sticks her head out
"Chris will you be joining us for dinner?"
Chris looks at me and smiles.
"Yeah sure"
Me and Chris sit at the dinner table and my mom walks in with a big plate of lasagna, she sits down in front of us with a big smile on her face.
"Mom your staring"
"I'm sorry, you've never had a boy over for dinner"
Chris let out a big laugh and put his hand on my leg.
"Well I think you'll be seeing a lot of me" He says.
"I hope so"
My mom says with a smirk
After dinner Chris walks me to me room
"So I'll see you tomorrow?" he asks.
"No I'm thinking of staying in bed all day"
"Yeah okay, I'll see you at school"
Chris kisses me on my forehead and turns to walk away.
"Don't forget to talk to Stephanie" He says.
"I won't"
That night I lay on my bed with my phone looking at Stephanie's contact, I press the call bottom and hold it to my ear.
"Hello, Laura??" she says as she picks up.
"Yeah it's me"
"Omg I'm so glad you called I can explain everything"
"Don't, Chris already told me" I reply.
"I'm so sorry I didn't tell you, I didn't know that you and Chris were ever going to be a thing"
"It's okay"
"Thank god, I've missed you so much"
"Stephanie?"
"Yeah?"
"If you ever lie to me again you'll regret it"
With that I hang up and throw my phone on my bean bag chair, me and Stephanie have never fought or lied to each other. I hear a knock on my door and my mom comes in, and lays besides me.
"Are you and Chris going to the Halloween dance together?"
"Do you want to see my costume?"
My mom smiles and claps her hands
"Fashion show!"
