"Hey why weren't you in school today?" Chris asks.
"I have a cold"
Chris is standing in my bedroom doorway. I lied about having a cold, I didn't feel like going to school.
"Really, because you don't look sick"
I look down at my fingernails trying to avoid looking at Chris. Chris walks over and sits on the edge on my bed.
"What's wrong friend?" He asks.
"Is that what I really am to you?" I reply aggressively.
"No, I didn't-"
"Tiffany told me about your break up, about how there was another girl" I screamed.
"I only told her that so she would stop calling me" Chris says softly.
"So why did you break up?"
"I, just wasn't felling it anymore"
We stood there in silence, I felt bad for yelling at him.
"Your more then just a friend to me" Chris finally said."Really?"
"Maybe I should stop calling you friend"
My cheeks went red as I smiled at Chris.
"Maybe you should"
Chris lays his head on my lap and stares at me with his sparkling blue eyes. I sit there and run my fingers through his hair, his phone starts to ring and he takes it out his pocket to see who it is. Chris denied the call and put it back in his pocket.
"Who was that?" I ask.
"Oh, nobody"
I look at Chris curiously, he looks away from me.
"I should probably go, I have a football game later" Chris says.
"Okay, I guess I'll see you later?"
Chris leaned over and kisses me on my cheek.
"Later, girlfriend"
"Bye" I reply.
With a huge smile, Chris got up and left my room. As soon as Chris was gone I grab my keys and drove to Stephanie's house. I push open her front door and run upstairs, I go to push open her door when I hear her yelling.
"Stop yelling at me, this is not my fault"
I open her door and she stares at me
"I got to go"
She hangs up her phone and throws it on the bed.
"Hey apple pie" she says.
"Is everything okay?"
"What, oh yeah everything's fine"
"Who were you talking too?" I ask.
"So I was thinking that we should order pizza and have a sleepover" Stephanie said changing the subject"Wait aren't you going to the football game tonight?" I ask.
"There is no game tonight"
I look at Stephanie trying not to show the tears in my eyes.
"Pizza and sleepover it is" I say.
"Awesome, go home and get in your pjs"
I walk out the door without saying another word, why would Chris lie about where he was going. It's only been 20 minutes into out relationship and he's already lying to me. I storm into my room and stuffed my pjs in my TNA bag, my heart was beating faster then I was blinking.
"Bye mom, I'm staying at Stephanie's tonight"
I screamed at my mom as I was walking out the door.
"Wait, this was on the table"
My mom handed me a folded piece of paper, I shoved it in my pocket and went out the door. I sat on the steps of my porch and opened the letter, it was from Chris.
"Laura, you probably figured out that I lied about having a game tonight. I can explain everything"
I folded up the letter and put it back in my pocket, I got back to Stephanie's house and she was standing at the door paying the pizza guy.
"Hey, my parents are going to be gone the whole night so we can crash on the couch"
"Cool" I said quietly and sat on the couch.
"What's going on?" Stephanie asked."Chris called me his girlfriend" I say.
"So why do you look so sad?"
"Because I'm starving"
I said changing the subject, I got up and grabbed a slice of pizza, Stephanie walked over and smacked me on my shoulder.
"I know when you're lying to me" She says.
"Okay fine, he lied to me about having a game tonight" I confess.
I reach into my pocket and hand the note to Stephanie. She starts reading it and a frown appears on her face.
"Maybe you should go talk to him" she says quietly.
"Why" I ask.
"Because there's a reason why he lied"
"What are you talking about"
"I'll explain everything later but you have to go talk to him"
"I'm not going anywhere until you tell me what's going on" I yell.
Stephanie walks over to the couch and sits down, I walk over and sit down beside her.
"Remember how Tiffany told you that her and Chris broke up because there was another girl?"
"How did you know that?"
"Because I'm the other girl"
