Chapter 35

The trio walked around the empty city, the only thing that was moving besides them was the fog, everything else in the city seemed as if it was stuck in time.

Atsushi shivered as he blew on his hands to warm himself up, "Should we wait for the sun to rise up?" He asked as he looked around the night sky.

Ali shook her head, readjusting the coat he had given her. "Maybe but... It'd be easier to plan what to do next with the rest of the agency, we're stronger together than separated." She told him as took his hand.

Kyouka's ears perked up as she looked towards the direction of a crash, the only sound that the trio had heard so far.

The three of them ran to see that a car had ran into a light post, as Ali pulled out a flashlight from her bag her eyes widened in surprise. "There's no one in there." She said, wondering how the car had managed to drive into the light post.

The entire city was empty, cups of warm coffee left alone in desolate diners, the lights flickering on and off, and empty apartment buildings. It was as if someone had grabbed the whole town while they were asleep, only leaving the 3 ability users on their own.

Ali turned to Atsushi, about to ask hi something but noticed how distraught he looked. He seemed to be looking out into space, as if he was seeing a ghost from the past. His eyes widened as his face became a ghostly pale and his hand clamy.

"Atsushi?" Ali asked, gently pulling at his arm and snapping him out of his trance as he turned to look at her, "Atsushi, are you okay?" She asked him.

Atsushi stayed silent, shaking as he simply just squeezed Ali's hand, as if remembering that she was there.

Ali sighed as she patted his head with a smile, "I'm right here." She told him, before she looked towards the distance.

Kyouka looked at the area that Ali was also looking at, walking towards it. "I smell blood." She told Ali, as she walked towards the area.

Atsushi and Ali both quickly caught up to her, the three of them stopped at what appeared to be a car crash, with a pool of blood in the center.

The metallic scent stinged Ali's nose as she grimaced, reaching into her backpack to pull out a mask. The three of them separated to investigate the sight, with Ali making sure that Kyouka was close to her.

"There's no corpses, so I doubt that it's one of those ability suicides." Atsushi told the other two as he peeked into the empty drivers seat, which had some slight blood stains on the seat, but other than that it was perfectly normal.

A growl came from the entrance of a closed off parking lot, causing the trio to immediately put their guar up, with Kyouka taking out a sword and Ali taking out her gun, meanwhile Atsushi prepared to activate his ability.

A large black tiger appeared, with whisps of fog escaping its body as it prowled at its prey, immediately running up the building and stalking the people from bellow.

Atsushi and Kyouka immediately activated their ability's, the names of their abilitys echoing through the empty town, only for nothing to happen.

The usual glow of kanji was gone, and the two simply stared at themselves in confusion. "Why... Aren't they activating?!" Atsushi yelled as he dashed to right.

The tiger jumped to the ground, leaving a large crater of cement and almost crushing Atsushi. If he hadn't ran to the side, he would've certainty gotten crushed.

Atsushi quickly ran past the tiger, grabbing Ali and Kyouka and picked them over his shoulder, jumping over a couple of cars as he ran to the agency.
