••••Chapter 17. : New place, new people

It's been one week since Vivian came back to Graceland. And everyone has been kind and good to her. Elvis was calling her every evening and they spoke about everything she did that day and what he was doing. Sadly, somehow, Vivian missed him even more like this.
The only thing Vivian was not excited about was the new school. Just like Elvis promised to Vivian's parents, he got her into the best Catholic school in the whole of Memphis, Immaculate Conception High School. Which meant strict discipline, teachers with angry expressions on their old faces and terrible school uniforms.

Two weeks before Christmas holidays, came Vivian's first school day at new school and to her surprise, Vernon and Dee came back from California to support her and be there for her. Which was nice of them.
Elvis even asked his daddy to be Vivian's chauffeur every morning to get her safely into the school and then, at the afternoon back to Graceland. And give her everything she needs. Even those things she doesn't need.
That was Elvis's way how to show love and that he did care. Giving and giving and giving. Without expecting anything back.
Dressed in terribly looking school uniform, with her hair nicely styled with only mascara on her eyelashes as a make-up to not offend anyone, Vivian sat silently on the passenger seat of the grey Cadillac, with Vernon driving.
She was so deep in her thoughts, that she did not even realize that they were in front of the school building. Until Vernon cleared his throat to get Beaulieu girl's attention. Making Vivian to look at him briefly.
"Good luck and have a godl day," Whished Vernon to her kindly, even smile forming on his wrinkled face. It's been so long since he was driving someone into the school and deep down he was enjoying his role.
"Thank you," Mumbled out Vivian, suddenly nervous.
This was the first time she was going into the school without her sister as moral support. For the first time she went somewhere she did not know anyone. Only herself.
But before she got out of the car, Vernon's hand on her forearm stopped her.
"Now, you won't be able to invite anyone over. Strangers aren't allowed in Graceland," He reminded her. Trying to sound kind as was possible.
"Okay," Hummed Vivian in understanding. Immediately realizing what it did mean. No friends.
Deep down Vivian knew that she wouldn't be able to invite anyone over to Elvis's house. But she hoped that at least she would be able to talk to someone. To make some friends out there.
