SIX WEEKS LATER
Pov: LucyOn the last day of my undercover training there was a small ceremony to congratulate us for completion. I was ecstatic and itching to get back into the field. Although I had missed patrolling and normal police work, I was looking forward to my first undercover mission, excited to use all the knowledge I had gained.
After the ceremony I packed all my stuff together and got in my car, ready to drive back home. The drive home wasn't long but it still gave me time to think.
The whole time I had been here, I hadn't been able to stop thinking about Tim. I was worried, then I missed him, then I felt guilty for leaving. It was a constant loop. Around 3 weeks in, I realised that I loved him and that I had made a mistake breaking up with him.
I went to therapy once a week to deal with all my shit, it helped me get past the guilt of getting Tim hurt. It also helped me see that I still wasn't over my trauma from being buried alive, that played a part in my irrational decision to break up with Tim.
My therapist had said that what I experienced was an anxiety attack caused by the trauma of being taken again, and from Tim being shot. The anxiety had led to my obsession with needing to keep Tim safe and thinking it was my fault he got shot.
I was very pleased with the progress I had made with therapy, all I needed to do now was try and get Tim back.
When I returned to the station I headed straight inside, making a beeline towards where the detectives were.
"Angela!" I shouted as I approached her.
"Hey, Lucy, you're back. How was it?" she asked, putting her case file down to talk to me.
"It was great, I really feel like I learned a lot." I answered, hesitating saying what I really wanted to.
"What's up?" Angela questioned, sensing my hesitation.
"Is Tim back at work?" I blurted out, blushing slightly at my words, which didn't go unnoticed by Angela.
"Today was his first day back, he's in the Metro unit currently."
"Perfect." I stated and walked off, heading straight to where his new office was. "Bye, Angela!" I added, raising my voice slightly so she would hear since I was already halfway across the room.
As soon as I entered the room I wish I hadn't. Tim clearly hadn't moved in yet and there was an odd smell coming from one of the corners that the cleaners seemed too afraid to go near.
I reached inside my bag and pulled out a pair of children's black boots, laughing to myself slightly. I hung the boots on one of the shelves and stood back, admiring my work.

Pov: Tim
As I pulled up to the station I noticed the lack of Lucy's car parked where it usually was. I hadn't spoken to her since the hospital but I knew she had gone to train to go undercover.
I was hoping that she would be back by the time I returned to work, I desperately needed to talk to her. Although the lack of Lucy's car likely meant she was not yet back, and I would have to wait even longer until I could see her.
I spotted Angela as I strode towards the main entrance of the station, who was having a heated debate with Wesley right by the main door.
"I'll see you at home." she seethed and Wesley stalked off inside the building.
"Everything okay?" I asked as I approached.
"Everything is great." she beamed sarcastically, "Shouldn't you be in the Metro unit?" she added and started towards the main entrance where Wesley had just disappeared into.
