SHE SAT IN THE BACK OF THE LIMOUSINE, AN UNSETTLING FEELING IN HER CHEST. Ni-ki had rushed her into a limousine, and now she found his driver speeding her toward his house, anxiety knotting her stomach. Why was he in such a hurry?

The memory of their last encounter was fresh, and she couldn't shake the fear that he was still furious about the slap. What if he wanted to confront her? Or worse, what if he decided to escalate things?

As the car turned, Rhaine took a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves.

Finally, the limousine came to a stop outside his house. Rhaine hesitated for a moment. She didn't know what awaited her inside, but she was determined to stand her ground, no matter what Ni-ki had in store for her.

As Rhaine stepped out, she caught the sight of Ni-ki on the porch. She swallowed hard, bracing herself for whatever was about to unfold.

"Come on in," he said, waving her forward with a slight hint of urgency. Rhaine hesitated but followed him inside, curiosity and trepidation battling within her.

Once inside, she was immediately hit by the scent of cedar and something faintly floral. Ni-ki led her into a spacious living room where an unfamiliar man sat, flipping through a folder. The man looked up, his eyes widening slightly as he took in Rhaine.

"Ah, you must be Rhaine!" he said, standing up and extending his hand.

"Yeah..." she replied slowly, confusion creeping in. "Who are you?"

"This is Dr. Lee, he's a private doctor," Ni-ki said with a casual shrug, leaning against the wall. "Thought it would be best for you to talk to someone who can help with your emotional issues."

"Wait... what?"

"You're pretty good at being a bitch."

Rhaine's eyebrows shot up in disbelief. "Excuse me? So you got a therapist for me?"

"It's a good idea. Who knows how to deal with crazy humans better than a human? I wouldn't know cause I'm a kumiho."

She scoffed, crossing her arms defensively. "So you think I'm crazy? I don't need a therapist; I need you to stop being such a jerk!"

Dr. Lee, oblivious to the tension, began shuffling through his papers. "I actually specialize in... unconventional cases," he explained, a slight smile on his face. "The email mentioned some... wild behaviors." He glanced at Ni-ki before continuing. "I even brought a valium syringe, just in case it gets too intense."

Rhaine felt her jaw drop. She couldn't believe what was happening. "Wild behaviors? Are you serious? You think I'm some kind of rabid animal?"

Ni-ki shrugged nonchalantly. "I just thought you might want some help." She genuinely couldn't tell if he was fucking with her or what.

Just then, Dr. Lee interjected, looking between the two of them with a bemused expression. "Oh, sir. I thought you were the patient!"

Rhaine couldn't help but smirk at the turn of events. "Maybe you should try it," she shot back, feeling a rush of satisfaction. "Clearly, you need it more than I do."

Ni-ki's expression darkened instantly, his eyes flashing red. "Excuse me?" he snapped, his voice low and menacing. "You think I'm the one who needs therapy? You have no idea who you're talking to."

Dr. Lee straightened, clearly taken aback by the sudden shift in mood. "I—uh, I didn't mean—"

"Let me make this very clear," Ni-ki said, taking a step closer, the air around him growing tense. "If you ever question my sanity again, you'll regret it."

Rhaine awkwardly laughed, sensing the rising tension. "Okay, okay! Maybe we should, um, take a step back here," she said, glancing nervously between them. "Dr. Lee, I think it's best if you leave."

Dr. Lee looked torn between confusion and fear, his hands raised defensively. "Right. Yes, of course. I—um, I'll just..."

"Good idea," Rhaine urged, trying to keep the situation from escalating further. "Let's just schedule a different time, okay?"

As Dr. Lee hurried out, Rhaine turned to Ni-ki, who had settled back into a relaxed stance, but the red in his eyes lingered.

The silence hung thick in the air, and Ni-ki's anger crackled like electricity around them. Rhaine bit her lip, struggling to hold back a laugh at the absurdity of the situation. Despite the tension, a soft chuckle slipped out.

"What?!" Ni-ki exclaimed, his eyes narrowing as he glared at her.

Rhaine shook her head, trying to compose herself. "It's just funny." Even though she was supposed to be offended, it was now entertained.

Ni-ki's expression darkened even further. "This isn't a joke. You're not supposed to laugh at this."

She took a step back, raising her hands defensively. "I think the therapist is right. You need to get tamed."

"Get out," he said tersely, annoyance evident in his voice.

"Fine, I'm going," Rhaine said, laughing silently as she turned to leave. She could barely contain her amusement as she stepped outside, the tension easing from her shoulders.

As she walked away, she glanced back at him, still standing there with a scowl on his face. With that, she slipped out the door, unable to stop the laughter bubbling up inside her.
