"STAY AWAY FROM HER."

Rhaine's heart raced as she turned to see Ni-ki striding toward her. The man facing her had an incredulous look, his cocky demeanor faltering slightly at the sight of Ni-ki.

Even though Ni-ki had his face concealed, she knew it was him.

"What's your problem?" the man sneered, trying to regain his composure.

Ni-ki didn't flinch. "Don't make me repeat what I said," he said again, his voice low and steady, but there was an edge to it that promised trouble.

The man laughed, a harsh, mocking sound. "And what are you going to do about it, kid? You think you can scare me off?"

Before Rhaine could process what was happening, Ni-ki lunged forward, his fists clenched. The impact of his punch landed squarely against the man's jaw, sending him staggering back. Rhaine's heart leaped in her chest, a mix of fear and adrenaline pulsing through her veins.

"No!" she managed to shout, but it was too late. The man recovered quickly, anger flashing in his eyes. He charged at Ni-ki, and the two began to fight, fists flying in a chaotic blur.

Rhaine watched in a daze, the world spinning around her. Her head felt heavy, and she could barely focus on the fight unfolding in front of her. Ni-ki was fierce, driven, but Rhaine felt a wave of dizziness wash over her, the combination of alcohol and the intense situation overwhelming her senses.

"Get off of him!" she shouted, trying to pull herself together, but her voice was slurred, barely a whisper amidst the noise.

Just as Ni-ki landed another punch, the man retaliated, catching Ni-ki off guard and pushing him back. Rhaine's stomach twisted at the sight; she wanted to intervene, but her limbs felt like lead, heavy and unresponsive.

As the fight continued, she felt her vision blur, the streetlights beginning to flicker like stars before her eyes. The edges of her consciousness were fraying, and just as Ni-ki turned to look at her, concern etched across his features, everything went black.

Rhaine crumpled to the ground, the darkness swallowed her whole.

Rhaine groaned as she blinked against the sunlight filtering through the curtains, the brightness hitting her like a sledgehammer. Her head throbbed with a dull ache, and she instinctively brought her hand to her forehead, trying to massage away the remnants of last night's drunken escapade.

As her eyes adjusted, the reality of her surroundings began to sink in. She was in Ni-ki's room.

Shot up instantly. The room was familiar yet disorienting, filled with sleek furniture and personal touches that spoke of his life.
