THEY SAT IN SILENCE IN HIS LIMOUSINE, parked right in front of the mall. Ni-ki tapped his fingers impatiently on the door handle, a scowl fixed on his face.
He leaned back, his expression tense with annoyance. "Why are we even here?"
Rhaine glanced out the window, pretending not to notice the irritation in his voice. "I have errands to run," she replied nonchalantly, fiddling with the zipper of her bag.
"Errands? And you needed me for...?" Ni-ki's jaw tightened as he turned to look at her, clearly frustrated.
She turned back to him, raising an eyebrow with a smirk. "Did you forget you're my boyfriend? Isn't this what boyfriends do?"
Ni-ki scoffed, rolling his eyes as he leaned back in his seat. "You're seriously pulling the boyfriend card for a trip to the mall?"
"Do you have better things to do?" she asked.
Ni-ki huffed, his irritation simmering just beneath the surface. "Actually, yes. Running a business, dealing with people who aren't obsessed with shopping."
"Right, because taking over the world one mall at a time must be exhausting."
Before he could respond, the driver stepped out and opened the door for them. Ni-ki slid out first, not even bothering to mask his frustration as Rhaine followed him with a smirk still tugging at her lips.
Ni-ki reached into the pocket of the car and pulled out a cap, tugging it low over his brow. Rhaine raised an eyebrow, curiosity piqued. "Why are you hiding yourself," she asked genuinely.
"I'm a celebrity. I can't just walk around in public areas with my face out for everyone to see."
With his hands shoved deep into his pockets, Ni-ki stared at the mall with clear disinterest, as if he couldn't believe he was wasting his time here. After all, he was used to the high-end boutiques and exclusive shops of the wealthy district, not this ordinary city mall.
Meanwhile, Rhaine hopped over to his side, her mood the completely opposite of his.
She extended her hand toward him with an expectant smile. He sighed in disbelief, shaking his head slightly before reluctantly pulling one hand from his pocket and intertwining his fingers with hers.
"This better be quick," he muttered, glancing around as if he'd rather be anywhere else, before they headed toward the entrance.
As they stepped into the mall, Rhaine was hit with the familiar buzz of chatter, laughter, and the smell of pretzels wafting through the air. It felt alive, a stark contrast to Ni-ki's cool demeanor. She led the way to the pharmacy, her excitement bubbling as she thought about the few errands she needed to run.
Inside, she quickly scanned the aisles, her eyes landing on the items she needed. After gathering her things, she approached the register and pulled out her card, ready to pay.
