Two weeks later, two policemen knocked on the Cliffords door.
Michael heard his mother open the door and greet them.

Then she called for Michael to come downstairs in her sickingly sweet the voice. He knew that voice too well. She only made it when she was nervous or hiding something.

But he still went downstairs. The policemen looked very sad and nervous too. He was sick of everyone tip toeing around him. He just wanted to be alone.

The policeman handed over an envelope. Michael looked at it, confusedly. On the front of it, it had a small curly written 'Michael'

Michael looked back up to find the policeman gone and his mother standing in front of him, frowning and wringing her hands.

He opened the envelope with shaking hands and pulled out a sheet of paper. He unfolded it slowely and read the first line:

Dear Mikey;

"Well darling, what does it-"

Michael cut his mother off by rushing past her and back up the stairs. He slammed the door and then leaned against it, breathing heavily.

He took one more big breath and opened the letter back up.
