The months that followed were a dark period for Leehan. Once the pride of Seoul University, he now found himself on the brink of failure. The rumors and accusations had taken their toll, and his grades plummeted. The pressure and isolation pushed him into a deep depression, and he stopped attending classes altogether.
Leehan's apartment, once filled with light and laughter, now felt like a prison. He spent his days in bed, staring blankly at the ceiling, unable to summon the energy to face the world. The vibrant, confident student he once was had been replaced by a shadow of his former self.
Meanwhile, Taesan was struggling in his own way. The campus was rife with hatred towards Leehan, and despite the lack of solid proof, the rumors persisted. Taesan couldn't shake the feeling of guilt and worry that gnawed at him. He knew Leehan blamed him for everything, and it tore him apart.
One day, Taesan was in the library, trying to focus on his studies, when he overheard a group of students talking.
"Did you hear? Leehan's practically a ghost now. He hasn't shown up to any classes in months."
"Yeah, I heard he failed all his tests. What a fall from grace."
Taesan's heart ached. He knew he had to do something, but he didn't know where to start. The last time he had seen Leehan was in the washroom, his eyes red and swollen from crying. Taesan had tried to talk to him, but Leehan had simply ignored him and walked away.
It had been almost five months since that day, and Leehan had vanished from the campus entirely. Taesan couldn't shake the worry that gnawed at him. He decided to visit Leehan's apartment, hoping to find some way to reach out to him.
He stood outside Leehan's door, his heart pounding. Taking a deep breath, he knocked softly. There was no answer. He knocked again, louder this time.
"Leehan, it's Taesan. Please, open the door. I just want to talk."
There was a long silence before he heard the sound of footsteps approaching. The door creaked open, and Leehan stood there, looking gaunt and exhausted.
"What do you want, Taesan?" Leehan's voice was barely above a whisper.
Taesan's heart broke at the sight of him. "I wanted to see if you're okay. You haven't been to class in months."
Leehan's eyes flashed with anger. "Why do you care? Isn't this what you wanted? To see me fall?"
Taesan shook his head, his voice filled with desperation. "No, Leehan. I never wanted this. I swear, I had nothing to do with the rumors. Someone framed me."
Leehan's expression softened slightly, but the pain in his eyes remained. "Then why didn't you do anything to stop it? Why didn't you fight for me?"
Taesan took a step closer, his voice trembling. "I tried, but no one would listen. I didn't know how to prove my innocence. But I never stopped caring about you."
Leehan looked away, his shoulders slumping. "It's too late, Taesan. My life is ruined. I don't know how to come back from this."
Taesan reached out, gently placing a hand on Leehan's shoulder. "It's not too late. We can fight this together. We can find a way to clear your name and mine."
Leehan looked up, his eyes filled with a glimmer of hope. "Do you really think we can?"
Taesan nodded, determination in his eyes. "Yes, I do. But we have to do it together. Will you let me help you?"
Leehan hesitated for a moment before nodding slowly. "Okay. But if we're going to do this, we need to start now."
Taesan smiled, a sense of relief washing over him. "Then let's get to work."
As they sat together, planning their next steps, Taesan couldn't help but feel a renewed sense of purpose. The road ahead would be difficult, but he was determined to clear their names and rebuild the trust that had been shattered. And for the first time in months, Leehan felt a flicker of hope, knowing he wasn't alone in this fight.
