The night was alive with celebration. Taesan and Leehan had decided to commemorate their victory with a small party at Leehan's apartment. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and relief, the weight of the past months finally lifting off their shoulders.
They had brought out a bottle of wine, and as the night wore on, they found themselves getting a little tipsy. The music played softly in the background, and the warm glow of the fairy lights added a magical touch to the evening.
Leehan poured another glass for Taesan, his eyes sparkling with joy. "To us," he toasted, raising his glass. "For overcoming everything and coming out stronger."
Taesan clinked his glass with Leehan's, a smile playing on his lips. "To us," he echoed, taking a sip.
As the night progressed, the conversation flowed easily, their laughter filling the room. They reminisced about their journey, the challenges they had faced, and the bond that had grown between them.
In the heat of the moment, they found themselves sitting closer, their faces inches apart. The air was thick with unspoken emotions, and their eyes locked in a gaze that seemed to hold the world.
"Taesan," Leehan whispered, his voice barely audible. "I..."
Before he could finish, their lips were almost touching, the tension between them palpable. But just as they were about to close the distance, a loud knock on the door shattered the moment.
They pulled apart quickly, their hearts racing. Leehan's eyes widened in surprise. "Who could that be?"
Taesan glanced down, realizing his shirt was slightly unbuttoned. He quickly covered himself and began to clean up the mess from their celebration. "I'll get the door," he said, trying to steady his breath.
Leehan nodded, still in a daze, as he followed Taesan to the door. When they opened it, they were greeted by the smiling faces of Leehan's parents.
"Surprise!" his mother exclaimed, holding up a cake. "We came to celebrate with you for topping the city in your exams!"
Leehan's face lit up with a mix of joy and shock. "Mom, Dad! I didn't expect you!"
His father clapped him on the back. "We couldn't miss this, son. We're so proud of you."
Taesan stepped back, giving them space. "I'll just... clean up a bit," he mumbled, feeling a bit out of place.
Leehan's mother noticed him and smiled warmly. "And who is this?"
Leehan quickly introduced Taesan. "Mom, Dad, this is Taesan. He's been a great friend and support through everything."
Taesan bowed politely. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. and Mrs. Kim."
Leehan's father nodded approvingly. "Thank you for being there for our son."
As Leehan's parents settled in, Taesan quietly excused himself. "I should get going. It's getting late."
Leehan walked him to the door, a look of gratitude in his eyes. "Thank you for tonight, Taesan. And for everything."
Taesan smiled, his heart full. "Anytime, Leehan. I'll see you tomorrow."
As Taesan walked back to his apartment, he couldn't help but replay the almost-kiss in his mind. The night had taken an unexpected turn, but he knew that their bond had only grown stronger. And as he lay in bed, he felt a sense of hope and anticipation for what the future might hold.
