Y/N sat at her desk, her fingers grazing the edge of the file where Taehyung's US investors’ information was detailed. Her eyes narrowed as she absorbed the data, each name and number fueling her growing frustration. He had announced their engagement without a single discussion, blindsiding her as if she were nothing more than a mere accessory. The audacity sent a slow burn through her veins.
She wasn’t just angry—she was livid. Taehyung had underestimated her for the last time.
She stood up, smoothing the fabric of her emerald-green silk blouse and white knee-length skirt. The material clung to her body, sharp and immaculate, just like her focus. She wasn’t going to let him pull the strings anymore. If Taehyung thought he could flaunt his control, she’d show him who truly held the power. He had treated her like a pawn, but he was about to learn that she was a queen. And a queen didn’t wait for permission.
Y/N reached for her phone and dialed. The cold, calculating look in her eyes was a stark contrast to the soft, luxurious setting of her office. When her assistant, Jisoo, answered, Y/N didn’t waste time.
“Get me a meeting with Taehyung’s US investors,” she said briskly.
“Miss Shin,” Jisoo replied cautiously, sensing Y/N's edge. "But Taehyung—"
"Forget Taehyung," Y/N interrupted, her voice sharp. "I’ll handle this myself. Set the meeting."
“Yes, Miss Shin. Right away,” Jisoo answered, not daring to question further.
Y/N hung up and paced her office for a moment, her mind sharp and calculating. She had watched from the sidelines long enough. Now, it was her move. She wasn’t about to let anyone dictate her life—not even Taehyung, with all his wealth and power.
Her heels clicked against the marble floor as she made her way to the car, Namjoon quietly following behind. The sun gleamed off the glass skyscrapers as they headed toward the meeting. Y/N's expression remained impassive, her mind already working through the negotiation strategies she’d deploy. Taehyung thought he could play her, but she had spent years observing, learning, and now, she was ready to take charge.
Arriving at the sleek, modern building where the investors were waiting, Y/N walked in with confidence. Her presence alone commanded attention, her posture straight, her gaze unyielding. She was dressed to perfection, the sharp lines of her outfit reflecting the sharpness of her mind.
Inside the conference room, the investors, all men in their tailored suits, looked up as she entered. They had expected Taehyung. Instead, they got her—an unexpected but powerful substitute.
“Good afternoon, gentlemen,” Y/N greeted them, her voice smooth yet firm. She didn’t sit immediately but stood at the head of the table, scanning their faces. “I’m aware that you were expecting Taehyung, but today, you’ll be discussing business with me.”
The men exchanged surprised glances, but none of them objected. There was something about her presence that commanded respect, even before she spoke further.
One of the investors leaned forward, intrigued. “And may I ask why the change, Miss Shin?”
Y/N finally took a seat, crossing her legs gracefully, her posture as sharp as her words. “Because, gentlemen,” she began, her tone unwavering, “while Taehyung might be the name you’re familiar with, I am the one in control of this part of the business. I’ve reviewed your agreements, and there are a few adjustments that I believe will be mutually beneficial.”
She opened the folder in front of her, revealing her calculated revisions. Her eyes flicked up to meet theirs, her expression calm but assertive. The power in the room had shifted in her favor.
