"I went to a pack in Michigan. There was a woman there who had lost her mate. She was rather miserable, and I asked her if I could take her as my mate. It would help me out, and help her own heartache. Losing your mate isn't pleasant. It makes you almost suicidal. Just ask Caleb. His mate was shot and killed."

Gen frowned at that, looking out at the man standing out there, talking to the others.

"But even knowing that I had to take Bianca as my mate, I didn't want to. I didn't want to touch her, let alone have sex with her. The thought of it made me sick to my stomach. I felt like I was cheating on Ana, even though I had no idea where the heck she was and knew I'd probably never see her again," Aidan told her.

"Until she showed up here." She knew that part of the story. She hadn't known Aidan was going to mate with someone else.

"Yes. But my point is, Linc would never go willing with Gina. Not now that you're in his life. He felt that way before he met you. He was pretty pissed off at her, and frankly I can't blame him, though I honestly don't think he was ever truly in love with her. I was never crazy about her myself. But now that he's met you and that bond is in place, to even think about touching her would disgust him. And not to be crude, but he would never be able to have sex with her. His dick wouldn't get hard enough," Aidan said nonchalantly.

Gen's lips parted at his words, but she nodded. She wasn't fully sure she believed that.

"The other thing is, we can smell another werewolf here. So someone helped her, which is rather interesting because Gina doesn't know that Lincoln is a werewolf," Aidan said.

"He never told her?" Gen asked.

"No. He didn't live with her, and he never brought her to the pack house. You're the only woman he's had in his apartment, besides pack members. Guaranteed you're the only woman that has ever been in his bed. But Gina is the only woman he ever saw on a regular basis," he told her.

Gen nodded quietly.

"Look Gen, I've seen him around you over the last twenty-four hours. He's completely smitten with you in a way he never was with her. Trust me, something is seriously wrong, and he would never go with her willingly. I know it's hard, but you have to trust that he'll remain faithful to you."

Gen sighed. "Okay. Where did the others go?" She'd noticed that Caleb, Dominic and Ragnar had taken off while Aidan had been talking to her.

"Down the road to shift. This place has cameras. They're going to try to follow the vehicle he went in. Xavier and Daniel went to the house Lincoln was staying in before. Dane and Malachi went to Gina's apartment, but it's not that close. You and I are going to follow Ragnar. I just wanted to give them a head start," Aidan told her.

"Okay," she breathed.

"I'm going to get in the front seat," Aidan said, opening the door.

"What about Linc's truck?"

"Are you driving it?"

"I don't have a license. Or the keys," she said, her eyes wide.

"I don't have the keys either. We'll have to come back for it," Aidan said. "At worse, we'll tow it back."

She hoped that wasn't necessary. Gen crawled into the passenger front seat and pulled the seat belt on. Eighteen years, she reminded herself. He'd waited so long on her, she couldn't blame him for seeing someone else. But at the same time, she felt jealous.

Aidan got behind the wheel and started the SUV. She was actually glad he'd came along, and that he was so open with her about everything. He was family now. She imagined she'd eventually feel completely comfortable with him. Hopefully at some point she'd be comfortable with them all.
