"..and then I found myself here."
Y/n gave a nervous smile as they finshed their story. They watch as Stanford finished writing the entirety of their story down.

"That's all? You're not here for like a purpose or anything?"
Stanford asked as his head finally poked up out of the journal. Y/n shook their head before continuing.

"Nope, like I said I found this... wait hold on.."
Y/n unlocked their phone and went to their gallery.
"It looked like this... if that helps."
They hand their phone to Stanford. The picture on the screen showed the tape measuer / time travel device.
"I don't know where it went though... it wasn't near me when I arrive..."
They trailed off for a moment. Was it there? They couldn't remember. They just started to look for help as soon as they realized their house was gone.

"You sure?"
Stanford shared the same unsureness as Y/n. They shrugged as they picked up the cup of coffee from the table that Stanford had made earlier.
"Maybe it's still there!"
Stanford sounded ecstatic before his body slumped down slightly.
"It might be damaged from being out in the snow for a few hours though."
He thought for a moment. He looked back into his journal and flipped through a few pages. He had placed the phone on the coffee table at this pont. He had zoned out while reading over something he had written. Y/n tried to peer over and see what it was but Stanford quickly shut the journal.

"We could go check."
Y/n yawned quietly. Talking took a lot out of them. Y/n stretched as they stood up. They finished the rest of the coffee in the cup as they walked to the kitchen to rinse it out.
"My house may not be there anymore...yet?"
Y/n turned the sink on with confusion coating their words. They shook their head and rinsed the cup out.
"I know where it will be....probably."
There was uncertainty in their words.

"It's snowing pretty hard though... we might be having a winter storm right now."
Stanford pointed out. The two of them could hear the wind inside and the snow outside made the wind visible. Y/n placed the cup in the sink before walking back towards Stanford.
"Maybe let's wait for the storm to calm down, huh?"
Stanford suggested with a nervous smile. Y/n sighed, they pinched the bridge of their nose before sitting down on the couch with a quiet groan.

"I don't have much of a choice."
Y/n grumbled, their hands covering their face. They let out a frustrated laugh as they dragged their hands down their face.
'This is just great! Stuck in the past and stuck in this house!'
Y/n thought, crossing their arms they sighed with their eyes closed. When their eyes opened they landed on the warm fire in front of them.
'Where else would I go...?'
The thought invaded their brain like a parasite as they felt a heavy sense of panic set in.
"I-I don't even exist yet.."
Y/n mumbled aloud, they didn't realize until they felt Stanford sit next to them. He hesitated, not really knowing what to say or do. Before he could lay a comforting hand on Y/n's shoulder they spoke up.
"Is there a spare room in here? Or do I have to sleep in the living room?"
Y/n asked as he gaze wondered over to Stanford. His hand was mid-air ready to land on Y/n's shoulder. Once he saw Y/n look at him his hand twitched slightly as he placed it on his neck. Y/n saw the extra finger again but decided to not comment on it yet.

"I do have a spare room.."
Stanford seemed to be lost in thought for a moment before snapping out of it.
"It has some.. uhm.. clutter in it though, give me a second to clean it up!"
He rushed through his words before speedwalking up the stairs and to the room. Y/n watched him as he walked upstairs. They felt like they should follow him but stayed put. They unlocked their phone to see that there wasn't any service. Why would there be service? They're in the fucking 70s!

'What is he doing up there..?'
Y/n thought to themselves as they heard a lot of rustling coming from upstairs. A lot of back and forth and heavy things dropping to the floor. Y/n opened their phone and tried to play one of the offline games on their phone. Luckily it worked.  Y/n zoned out while playing the mindless game, they didn't know how long Stanford was up there for.

"It's all ready!"
Stanford called out from up the stairs. His head poked out from the top to see
Y/n starting to walk up.
"Sorry for the wait! It was a bit messy in there!"
He let out a light hearted chuckle as he hoped Y/n wouldn't question what was in the room. Y/n kept the question to themselves.

"I don't mind really."
Y/n finished one last level on the game they were playing before shutting the game off and looking up to see a pretty decent room.
"This it?"
They asked, their voice filled with gratitude. They looked over to Stanford to see him nodding.

"Yes! It's been used as a uhm..."
He trialed off for a second to think of an excuse rather than say the real answer.
"Storage! Yes! It's been used for storage for my scientific research!"
He did not sound convincing in the slightest, but Y/n was too drained too care. Even after that nap they were still tired. They didn't care to pry into this at the moment.

"Well I'm sleeping. I've been up all night with only that short nap.. how long was it again?"
Y/n asked as they stepped into the room turning to look at Stanford.

"Like an hour? I don't know I wasn't paying attention. My apologies."
Stanford stood there for a moment, there was awkward tension quickly filling the air around them.
"W-well rest well Y/n!"
Stanford quickly spoke with a smile as he walked down the hall towards his room. He shut the door, leaning on it from the inside of the room.

'Tch...okay?'
They giggled from the awkwardness Stanford admitted. They closed the door to their new room, for now. They took another look around the room, it was still slightly messy. A few gadgets on the shelves and papers strewn across the floor. Y/n pick one up, examining it to see what it might've been. They did that to everything in the room. They were a little suspicious of him to say the least. On the other hand Stanford was sitting at his door replaying the whole interaction with him and Y/n.

'I shouldn't have acted like that... maybe I should said something different?'
His mind races as he overthinks everything. Why was he even overanalyzing this anyway? He stopped for a moment questioning his motives. He was just worried about this stranger. That it.
'I-I just need some sleep..'
He thought. Maybe he'd just been staying up too long again. He sat on the edge of his bed before setting his glasses down on the side table next to his bed. He laid down and cuddled against the blankets. Normally he'd just pass out doing work, but he felt like he shouldn't work himself to exhaustion while Y/n was here.
'Just while they're here...'
His last thoughts were of Y/n as he drifted off.

Y/n was just about to get ready to sleep when something caught their eye. It shined behind one of the bookshelves. Curious, they picked it up. It was some kind of triangle.
'That's strange...'
Y/n thought as they examined it. They set it on the shelf. It seemed to be a bit broken though. One of its arms fell off and it had a piece chipped off from the top corner. It just was a yellow triangle with one eye, a bow tie, and two legs and an arm. They smiled softly looking at the craftsmanship of the figure.
'Did he sculpt this?'
Y/n giggled softly as they moved away towards the bed. They climbed in and got comfy rather quickly.
'I need to invest in some 70s furniture when I get back home.'
Y/n thought, the couch and bed they've laid on have been extremely comfortable. It didn't take long for their eyes to flutter close. The pupil of the figure stared directly at Y/n sleeping figure. If it had a smile it would be growing on its face.
