1978 Winter - 7:54am

Y/n's leg bounced while covering their face, it was burning hot. Their entire face was a bright red from earlier. Even if it was hours ago, that moment kept replying in their mind. They've migrated to their new room to try to get some sleep. It didn't work, they tossed and turned but couldn't get comfy. They just decided to wait until their body shuts down. Sitting on their bed they didn't really know what to do. There wasn't much to do in this room other than play on their phone, but replaying the same games over and over again while also forgetting there's no internet and trying other apps to cure their boredom wasn't helping. They sighed as they placed the phone on the nightstand next to them.

'What's Ford doing right now...?'
Blush crept it's way back onto their face. They shook the thought away, being close to him right now would make everything so much worse.
'What else could I...?'
They tried looking around the room again to see if there could be anything here that would distract them long enough to get tired. Nothing. Yet again. With a groan they swung their legs over the bed and stood up. They drug a hand down their face as they walked towards the door. Opening it Ford stood there. The two stood frozen for a second.

"Oh-"
"Hi-"
"I was just uh-
"I was-"

Their voices overlap each other as they tried to speak. Silence again. Ford was waiting outside the door for a while trying to figure out how to approach Y/n after what Bill had did. The awkward tension was heavy, suffocating even. Y/n let's a sheepish smile grow on their face before speaking.

"So, about earlier? Is that why you're here?"
A nervous giggle finished their sentence. Ford nodded, his face reddened. Y/n leaned on the doorframe, yawning.
"I liked it.."
They admitted, the lack of sleep was starting to get to them. A giggled escaped their lips in their delirious state. Ford's face flushed red.

"O-oh! I-I uhm..."
He's not used to anything romantic, he had zero clue what to say or do. But seeing Y/n in their state made him feel a little relieved, maybe they'd forget they said that. Y/n yawned again while rubbing their eyes. Ford body relaxes slightly, he hadn't noticed he was tense.
"Did you get any sleep?"
His voice was soft, comforting. Y/n shook their head no. Sighing Ford smiled.
"Me either."
He rubbed the back of his neck waiting for Y/n to say something. But the awkward silence crept its way back, atleast for Ford. Y/n was slowly drifting off, their body refusing to stay awake any longer. Their head drooped down, Ford saw this and gently lifted their head up to face him. Their eyes were closed. It didn't take long for them to jolt awake. Ford retracted his hand.

"I think I'm ready for bed. But before I do, have you figured anything else about the time machine device..thingy?"
Y/n asked, the sleepiness evident in their voice. Ford shook his head.

"Nothing really. I'll keep you updated though! I'll tell you anything I figure out after you rest."
A gentle smile rested on both their faces. Y/n nodded as they stood up straight. They gave a small wave to Ford before closing the door. They were kind of happy their body was shutting down. Less of an awkward conversation. Ford didn't move from the door for a moment. That intoxicating feeling was back, this time he was starting to like the way it felt.

"Hey- Sixer?"
Bill snapped Ford out of his thoughts. Ford jumped and looked towards Bill. He was unsure how to approach the topic of earlier.

"What was that?"
He spoke in a hushed whipser while moving down stairs. Bill followed him with an innocent look in his eye.

"What was what?"
He spoke sarcastically. Ford groaned softly as he made his way to his desk.
"I'm not quite sure what you mean!"
If Bill had a mouth he'd be smiling ear to ear.

"Stop acting innocent! What you did with Y/n! The fucking kiss!"
His words came out harsh, he didn't like that Bill kissed them. It was more of a jealousy feeling than anger.

"Oh! That!"
He giggled as he floated towards Ford, now in his view.
"I was just helping you Sixer."
That was a lie and Ford could tell. There was a moment of silence as Ford continued to work on the device.

"...you're getting worse at lying to me. You know that?"
Ford finally broke the silence, Bill was stunned that the lie was easily detected. Then again he wasn't really trying that hard to cover it up.

"You're just not working on the portal! You've been too bust with that silly trinket."
He complained, he acted like a child when Ford was doing stuff that didn't involve the portal. Ford let out a frustrated sigh.

"Well I don't need them knowing about the portal, and they need to get home. Do you want them to be stuck in the past?"
Bill went quiet for a moment before groaning.

"No.."
He rolled his eye as he hovered near Ford's shoulder, now looking at the time machine.
"But you haven't touched the portal in forever!"
He complained some more. Ford would be tuning him out by now but he was right. Ford hasn't even went down to the basement in a while.

"It's only been a few days. I'll get back to work on it soon. I'll figure something out, okay?"
Ford always tried to make a compromise every time Bill was upset. It was either that or do what he said. Ford wasn't allowed to say no to what Bill wanted him to do involving the portal.

"Fine! But if you don't I'll drag you down there myself! Remember Sixer you made a deal."
Bill reminded Ford before disappearing and leaving Ford alone again. Ford let out a long frustrated sigh. He needed to do something with the portal to satisfy Bill for a little, but it was far to risky to do anything right now. He knew that Y/n was curious, far too curious for their own good.
