Winter, 1979 - 1:30pm

With a huff Y/n sat down on the couch. The blankets around them warming them up. They couldn't find anything yet, then again they weren't really looking. They just hoped Ford would have a slight slip up and make it his fault. After skimming the house a few times Y/n got bored making them stop.

'I don't want to stay here..'
The thought rang in their head. Even if they weren't snowbound in this house they wouldn't know where to go. They didn't wanna fuck up the past and change the future too much.
'Wait.. snowbound?'
Y/n looked outside the window and only saw snow. If Y/n couldn't leave the house then Ford had to still be here. With some new determination Y/n got up and began to look for where Ford might be hiding.

Ford was still working in the time machine. He found the main component that was broken. It kept fizzling, no matter what he did nothing helped. He would need to make a new component for it... meaning he'd have to make a time machine.

'Fun..'
He groaned at the thought of needing to make an entire time machine. He didn't even want to let them go. He needed them close.
'What am I even thinking..??'
He was going insane. He's never felt this way for someone, that stupid feeling was becoming addicting. It took everything in him to say put and work on this stupid device. He looked at the main component of the time machine, watching sparks emit from it, he groaned again as he picked it up. He has thick black electrical gloves to protect himself. His past lab partner made these for him.
'The only good thing he did..'
The sound of footsteps startled him. He jumped slightly, dropping the machinery on the floor, it clattered away from him. He looked around to see Y/n entering, their eyes wide. Y/n looked around and saw Ford. Ford tensed while Y/n relaxed.

"There you are!"
They smiled for a moment before turning their attention back to the portal.
"What is that?"
Their voice was filled with curiosity. Ford seemed a little confused by how they were reacting. He would think others would be a little scared that Ford has hiding this huge portal.

"It's a portal."
He answered vaguely. Y/n wasnt going to accept that answer. They looked back to him with a sigh.

"Where does it lead to?"
Y/n watched as Ford rolled his eyes, he bent down to pick up the part he dropped earlier. He placed it on his desk, after he took his gloves off.

"It'll tell me all the secrets that gravity falls holds. Making me able to expand my research. He walks out and meets
Y/n in front of the portal.
"I've been working on this baby for years."
He sounds proud of his work. He stares at the machine for a moment.

"Cool... but like where does it lead to? That doesn't answer my question."
Y/n nudged Ford lightly, an annoyed laugh escaped their throat. Ford thought for a moment. He didn't really know what it lead to, what kinds of things would be beyond the opening... he shook his head.

"I'm not too sure, but it'll tell me everything that I want to know."

"How do you know it will?"
There was a long pause. The room slowly built up awkward tension. Ford didn't know how to explain it, he knows that Y/n knows about Bill, but thinks that Ford doesn't.

"A friend."
Y/n was going to ask again but Ford stopped them, he put a hand up.
"Im not saying more."
He finally looked back at Y/n, that feeling crept back into his stomach.

"Why do you hide all this shit from me?! I'll be gone here soon so why not just tell me?"
Y/n paused for a moment. Ford's actions eariler flooded their mind.
"You kiss me, then try to forget it happened, he lie to me about going out, while also hiding all this shit from me!"
Ford felt a little guilty, he couldn't lie about that.
"Just-"
Y/n cut himself off, they huffed before turning away from Ford.
"You don't make any sense. Just finish the stupid time machine."
They started to leave the basement, Ford's felt his heart twinge at this.

"Y/n wait!"
They stopped. Not really caring waht he has to say.
"I'm sorry. I just-"
He paused, rubbing a hand on the back of his neck he tried to think of something to say.
"I'm not used to company, or rather people."
A nervous smile spread on his face.
"Plus how was I supposed to know how you'd react?"
A soft laugh emitted from him. Y/n turned to look at him. A soft smiling now growing in their face.

"Ok you have a point."
They started to walk towards Ford again. They wanted to continue what they were going to say but Ford cut them off.

"I promise I won't keep anything else from you."
That was a huge lie Nad Ford knew it. Luckily it seemed like Y/n was going to believe it.

"You promise? No more secrets or hiding stuff?"
They were still a little unsure how to approach or even accept this situation. Ford nodded his head, this made Y/n relax a little.
"Well first things first. What was the kiss about? You never gave me an answer."
Ford tensed up, he had no idea how to explain that one.

"I, uh-"
He tired to think of an excuse, none of them felt convincing enough.
"I just zoned out, and the next thing I knew I had you on the counter."
Both of their faces flushed red. A moment of silence passed by.

Neither of them knew what to say. They both were very embarrassed when it came to stuff like that. Y/n wanted to say something, but the words were stuck in their throat.

"I'll go back to working on the time machine."
Ford spat out, he turned to his workstation and walked towards it.

"I liked it!"
Y/n repeated what they had said eariler.
"L-like what I said before... I-"
Ford was facing them again. Red invaded their face once more. Their lips were pressed into a line as they walked towards the stairs of the basement again. Now leaving.
'Why did I say that? What did I say that?!'
The thought repeated in their mind a million times over as they made their way to their room. Ford on the other hand twitched slightly.

'Should I even help them leave? They don't seem like they have anyone back in their time.'
His thoughts began to wonder again. He didn't stop them. He let himself wonder, imagining what their life must've been like, by what he's seen it doesn't seem like they have anyone in their time. If Ford's still here in gravity falls Y/n would have him then... he didn't want to wait 30 years to see them again. He wouldn't. His eyes wondered to the disassembled device on his work bench.
'They need me. I make them feel wanted. They enjoyed that kiss, when that wasn't even me... would they enjoy what I do to them?"
He liked that idea. His mind wondered again, this time to a much darker place.
