Y/n stood by the coffee machine waiting for it to finish brewing. Even though they haven't been up long they were already tired. The walking back and forth in the cold weather made the two want to go to bed. Yet it was very important that Ford atleast looked at the time machine.

'This is definitely some advance technology..'
Ford thought as he moved the device in his hands. His gaze completely and utterly focused on trying to figure out what was wrong. It was warm to the touch, the light blue lights flickered occasionally showing something was wrong. Ford grabs a screwdriver under the lamp, and carefully opens the device to get a closer look inside. The device easily came apart, Ford sketched the inside as he put a mental note on where everything went. It seemed like nothing was wrong other than the lights flickering on and off. With a grunt Ford runs a hand through his hair. His hand rested on the back of his neck, leaning back in the chair he brings the device closer to him. He could see a small fracture in one of the smaller components. He straightened himself and carefully took that piece out of the machine.

"How's it going over here?"
Y/n asked, scaring Ford. As he jumped his grip tightened on the component in his hand.
"...sorry.."
Y/n mumbled as they settled next to Ford. The young man was too focused on the device in front of him. He toyed with the small piece he'd pulled out earlier. The sketchpad next to him getting filled up quickly. Y/n watched patiently, studying every moment that Ford made.

"...I think I found the issue.."
He finally spoke. A small sigh escapes his nose as he continued.
"Or a smaller one. I can't tell."
He groaned, the pencil in his other hand dropping on the table as his now free hand dragged down his face.
"This technology is too advance for me to understand.."
That was a lot coming from Ford. Yet futuristic technology from a far, far, FAR away future would make no sense to the young man.
"If I can study it some more I might be able to connect some of the machinery and maybe find some similarities between what I have and what was used."
He placed the trinket in his hand close to the time machine. He could feel his body starting to fail him.
"Is that coffee done yet?"
Y/n jumped slightly, forgetting Ford was talking to them. The cup in their hand has swirling smoke escaping.

"Yes, and uhm here."
The cup was now placed in front of Ford. It's not like they drank out of it yet. Ford took the cup of coffee in hand. He blew the smoke away and took a small sip. It was hot, like burning hot, but Ford doesn't have much feeling left in his tongue from Bill using him as a test dummy for his own pleasure.
"... what have you figured out?"
Their voice was soft and gentle. Ford melted slightly enjoying the softness in their voice. He smiled to match Y/n's soft voice.

"It's hard to tell what does what in that thing."
A small laugh made its way out of him as he stared at the device.
"I think maybe from being in the cold must've frozen and broke some main components needed to travel through time. I should have it fixed in a couple weeks."
His tone sounded unfazed, meanwhile
Y/n's stomach sank.

'A couple weeks? I don't think I could... well.."
Their thoughts drifted off slowly as they considered the situation.
"Is there anything I can do to help?"
Y/n offered, some desperation present in their voice.

"Nothing yet."
He paused to take another sip from the coffee. His lips smacked quietly as he resumed.
"But you might wanna get a cup too if you wanna try to win."
He smiled as his gaze moved over to Y/n. They returned the smile, getting up to make themselves a cup. Ford watched as they disappeared into the kitchen. Truth be told he could probably get this fixed within a couple days if he ignored most his bodily needs. But he had a guest, he didn't need to destroy himself infront of company. Y/n came back with an identical white coffee cup, and sat back down next to Ford.
