Weeks passed, and Aanya's life slowly began to settle into a new normal. She focused on her work, met up with friends, and tried to forget about Rohan and the disturbing ordeal. But, just as she was starting to feel at peace, strange things began happening again.
It started small—her favorite mug moved from one spot to another, her keys going missing only to be found in odd places. She dismissed it as forgetfulness at first, but the incidents became harder to ignore. Her apartment, usually a sanctuary, felt off, like someone had been there without her knowing.
One evening, Aanya came home to find her living room window slightly ajar, even though she was sure she had locked it that morning. Her heart raced as she quickly checked the apartment, but everything seemed untouched. Yet the unease lingered.
She decided to call Inspector Raj.
"Raj, I think someone's been in my apartment," Aanya said, trying to keep her voice steady.
"Did you see anything suspicious? Any signs of a break-in?" Raj asked, his tone concerned.
"No, but things have been moved around. It feels like someone's watching me again."
Raj sighed on the other end of the line. "Aanya, I'll send someone to check it out. But until then, be careful. It could be nothing, but it could also be—"
"Rohan?" Aanya finished, her stomach twisting.
"It's possible. We haven't had any sightings of him since you cut ties, but I wouldn't rule anything out."
