It was lunch time and I bugged my friend over and over about this guy I really liked back in freshman year of high school.
He never knew that I liked him, he always just seen me smiling at him and he didn't seem to mind .
I was sitting at the table alone , watching my friend talk to Darius from a distance.
"Do she really?"
"Yeah she's always liked you since middle school."
Damn, that's crazy .. Umm."
"Well??"
He leaned against the wall while holding on to his basketball.
"I mean shawty cute..."
"You know that doesn't tell me much."
"Haha... I'm saying , I mean she's cute but I don't really like her like that."
"Okay well Umm nice talking to you then."
My friend turned around to walk away so that she could eat lunch with me...
Before she could walk off he grabbed her hand.
"Hey!"
She turned around quickly.
"Don't say anything okay? But I like you."
"Wha...what?"
"Yeah , I like you ."
She snatched her hand away and said
"Darius you know MarLee, is my friend and I don't want ..."
"Shhhh... She doesn't have to know, how about you just come to my brother party tonight?"
"Can she come?"
"Mmm.. Yeah sure why not? But I'd rather you just come with some other friends.. I don't want to make things seem awkward."
"Alright then cool, well what should I tell her?"
"Just tell her that... I mean I don't know .. Make up some shit, I'm about to head home soon. My moms coming to scoop me up."
"Alright I guess I'll see you tonight."
"Text my boy josh, for my number."
He walked away and she came heading back to the table.
I was barley sipping on my juice that I got from the cafeteria because I was so anxious to hear what she had to say.
"Marmar!"
She rested her hands on the table and just stared at me.
"What?"
"He thinks you're pretty and he said that he'll talk with you maybe tomorrow ."
"Really?!?"
"Yeah!!"
I clapped my hands with excitement and said
"Wow I didn't think he actually liked me , like that."
Shanzi sat across from me and said
"Yeah he does, it's crazy Huh? Yall guys would be extremely cute together."
I brushed my face and began to blush..
"Don't say that , I already feel weird ... I really do like him. Like a lot !"
The bell rung for us to head back to class. I stood up , threw my trash away and we both headed down the hall way in a slow place.
"Is Mr.Catsin here today?"
Shanzi asked..
"Unfortunately, yeah... He had us doing that lame ass history test."
"Damn!!!"
"What?"
"I didn't even study for that hoe."
"It's easy, trust me."
"Yeah easy for you."
We got to her class first , mine was a few doors down, before she went inside she stood next me while traffic was in the middle of the hall.
"There he is again"
I pointed him out and stared directly at him.
Darius and shanzi both made eye contact...
"Are you okay?"
"Huh? Yeah , yeah ... I'm just not trying to go to class."
"Me neither, well I'll see you after .. Thank god this is the last class."
We hugged each other and headed to my classroom.
It was half empty when I got inside , and of course I sat way in the back.
An hour went by and the teacher had just got done finishing the lesson.
"Alright class, the rest is due for homework. Make sure you have this full packet completed. If not ! Then it's a zero for you, I'm not about to grade half ass work you guys."
The class was silent and everybody was too busy on their phones..or sleep
"Any questions?"
I raised my hand up while tapping my pencil on the desk.
"MarLee'?"
"May I go to the restroom?"
"Yes you may, grab a pass and be back no later than fifteen minutes please."
I jumped up out of my seat with no hesitation.
I stepped over the other students bags and damn near tripped.
"Hey ! Watch it !!"
Some white kid said rudely..
"I'm Sorry.."
Some of the students around him laughed as I walked past.
"Minston be nice , or go to the office."
"Man She stepped on my shoes."

"Hey ! Hey ! MarLee please proceed with your duties. Minston you have one more strike !! Now hush !!"
Minston smacked his teeth and folded his arms.
I headed out the classroom and went on to the restroom.
I got inside and some stud startled me .
"Shit!"
I screamed and grabbed for my chest..
The girl wasn't doing anything wrong , she was just fixing her ponytail in the mirror.
"Hahaha aw im sorry did I scare you?"
"No, no .. Umm well.."
She smiled and said
"Kinda ?"
"Yeah."
"What's your name?"
I turned around to see if anybody was behind me ..
"You ..."
"Me?"
"Yes you, we're the only two in here."
"Oh, yeah um MarLee'"

The girl turned back to fixing her in the mirror.
I walked past her slowly and just stared her up and down.
At the time I wasn't really into girls like that, but for some reason this girl was fucking sexy as hell.
I think she was Hispanic.... She had to been.
She played football at our school, yes I said football. She was the only girl on the team.
She was muscular as fuck and fine.
Before I went into one of the stalls
She called my name.
"MarLee'?"
"Yeah?"
I turned around and she asked
"Do you like girls?
My eyes grew big quick and immediately went back to normal when she glanced at me.
"Umm...I never thought about it."
"Why not?"
She pulled her hair in the rubber band and began to rub her baby hairs on the side.
She didn't see me staring hard cause she was too busy looking in the mirror.
"I just never really thought about it ."
"You should, I think you're very pretty, I've seen you around but you be hanging out with shanzi and them... I don't fool with them."
"You... You think I'm pretty?"
She turned around and leaned her back against the sink.
"Yeah! Who doesn't ? Don't you write?"
I began to smile a little ..
"Yeah I do , how'd you know?"
"People talk about your poetry, I've been meaning to ask you if I could hear some."
"Right now ?"
"Tsssss, I don't see why not ."
I walked over to her and sat the pass down on the sink.
I went through my phone and began to scroll through old poetry and songs that I've written.
"Umm they're not really the best.."
"I don't care , just read it."
She stood closer to me while looking through her phone as well.
"Before you start , let me get your number."
I swallowed hard and began to stutter

She put her phone back into her pocket and waited for me to read her a poem.
I cleared my throat and glanced at her for a second.
She was staring at my lips and eyes..

We stared at each other for a bit and started laughing.
"Man you need to publish a book or something , I'll buy every single one!"
"I was thinking about it actually.."

"Yeah that's what my coach calls me."
"Okay , well it was nice meeting you I gotta go back to class."
"Alright! Wait, what you doing tonight?"
"not sure yet.. Why?"
"You should come kick it with me and my sister at this party we going to."
"Where's the party at?"
"Darius brother , you know him ? He used to at ball here."
"Yeah , I know Darius though."
"Alright cool well him and his bro throwing a party tonight at his spot, so if you want me and my sister can come pick you up ."
"Umm yeah , I guess since I don't have anything to do."
Icy smiled and said
"Great , well can I walk you to your class?"
I grabbed my pass and secretly smiled ...
"Yeah Umm , I don't see why not."
Walked out of the door and we walked down the hall together.
"MarLee' I know you don't know me but, you should give girls a shot."
"I'll think about it ."
"Think hard on it, I like you. I like suit since I seen you..."
I stopped in the middle of the hallway and looked over at her.
"Me ??"
"Yes ! You !"
She grabbed my hand kissed it softly.
"I'll see you later , okay?"
I didn't really know how to feel at that point . I was shocked as fuck to even know that the girl of Transon High football team liked me... And she was so fine.
She waved and went on about her way.
I went inside the classroom everybody just stared at me.
"Finally, you join us ."
The teacher said ..
The bell rung and everybody hopped out of their seats . I stood by the bored and the guy that was talking shit to me, shoved me up against the bored.
"Move out of the way."
He rolled his eyes and his crew laughed on the way out.
"MarLee' , don't let these kids here get to you , I see you've been getting bullied in here.. Is this the only class?"
I grabbed my belongings from my desk and ignored my teacher.
"MarLee'.."
"Yes.."
"I'm here for you okay?"
"Alright, but I'm fine ."
I looked at him and he nodded his head.
"Have a safe weekend and make sure you do that packet."
"Alright."
I headed out the door and waited for my friend shanzi to come out of her class.
"Hey."
"Hey..."
"Are you okay?"
She asked ..
"I'm fine, I just really hate this school."
"Yeah me too, what you doing tonight?"
"Umm I don't know honestly, what about you?"
"Probably just chill with my big sis tonight."
"Who shantay?"
"Yeah she's coming into town tonight."
Shanzi and I walked to the buses and waited for them to open the doors..shanzi walked over to hers and said
"I'll text you when I get home okay?"
"Alright please do ! And let me know what you're getting into tonight , I might have a move."
She hugged me and went on the bus.
Mine took like 15 minutes to get here...
I sat on the side walk and then all of a sudden
"Hey Marley..."
I looked up and it was icy
"MarLee' you mean ?"
"Yeah my bad , I just wanted to come over and sit next to you if that's cool."
"Yeah sure."
I pulled my bag from the side and sat it on the other side of me.
She sat next me on my right , and asked
"How come you're always alone?"
"I mean... I usually just hang out with shanzi."
"Oh.... Her..."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"I don't know, I just don't like your friend."
"What?! She's fucking awesome!"
She smiled at the ground...
"If you say so, where's your bus?"
"It actually just pulled up."
I stood up , dusted off my jeans and picked up my bag.
"You still down for tonight?"
"Yeah , of course."
"Okay I'll just come scoop you around 9ish?"
"Yeah that's perfect."
"Alright well I'll text you."
I waved goodbye and she watched me get on the bus.
We pulled out of the parking lot and headed home.
I always say behind the bus driver simply because the kids in the back was always wild and loud.
My stop was first ....
I got off the bus and headed home.
"Hey Mrs.Parker!"
There this old lady I always see, she's always outside watering her rose bush ..
She shouted behind the white fence

I walked passed her house and arrived at my door step.
I rung the doorbell and waited for my mom or brother to show up.

"Cause you didn't do the dishes.."
I walked inside and followed him to the living room.

"I'm sorry I was in a hurry to get on the bus."

My mom flipped through the channels on the tv while sipping on some iced tea.
"It was okay..."

"Alright, do you have homework?"

"Alright well gone on and relax, imma cook some chicken in a minute. Oh and the next time I tell your ass take the chicken out the freezer and you don't do it imma bust that ass."

"Yes! Your brother had to do it once he got out of school, so we gotta wait for it to thaw out."

My mom paused for a moment ..

"Ain't no Umm, you better be back around 2 no later than that. Imma let you have your freedom alright? But your black butt better be in this house no later than two."
I smiled with joy, ran up to her and gave her a bunch of kisses .

She shoved my face with the pillow.

We both busted out laughing and I headed to my room.
I closed the door ,crashed on my bed and stared at my ceiling.

My phone vibrated.. I looked at the message and it was icy.

I smiled at the message ,texted her my address and tossed my phone to the side.
I was so confused like ... Seriously, this girl is really trying to get at me .
I ended up falling asleep and when I woke up it was damn near 8:30

I jumped up and immediately hopped in the shower.
It only took me about 20 mins to get myself together.

I stumbled over clothes, shoes trying to get myself together. I damn near almost fell into the closet trying to put on a shoe.
My phone started ringing and it was icy again.

"Sorry that was my mom , where are you ?"
"Outside your house."
"Okay come to the door my mom wants to meet you."

We hunged up and I ran to the living room.
"Mom she's here!"
My mom dried her hands off with napkin and came in the living room.
I opened the door and icy was standing outside...looking fine as ever.
She came inside and said
"Hello ."
"Hey , mom this is icy , icy this is my mom."

They shooked hands and my mom told her
"She's needs to be back at this house no later than 2."
"Okay that's perfect my mom wants me back around that time as well."

We went outside and my mom closed the door.

"Really? I tried to find something nice I woke up so late."

We headed to the black jeep that her sister was driving in.
She opened my door and told me to get in.
I hopped in the backseat and her sister said

Icy got in the car and her sis pulled off.

Icy was lighting up three blunts and the car filled up with nothing but dank.

I took a huge ass hit and I started coughing out my heart.

We go to the house and there was a line ...

We walked over to the food stand and cooler.

We walked inside of the house and headed past the kitchen.
The entire house was packed and you couldn't really move how you wanted.

I hid behind the hall and peeked again..
He was smiling and kissing on this girls neck.. He backed away and pulled her by her hand and noticed something odd.
The bracelet this girl had on was the same one I gave shanzi for her birthday last month.
He sat down and she got on his lap. She pulled her hair to the side and they started kissing.
The crowd was blocking my view so I couldn't really see ... I moved away from the wall and stood in the mist of the crowd.
And there I saw... Shanzi kissing on the guy that I truly did have feelings for.
I stood there as if I seen a ghost...
They were all in each other's mouths, his hands was on her ass.. Like the shit I seen... Like that shit killed me.
I backed away and ran back to the bathroom.
Icy came out just in time and I rushed in .

I went to the toilet and started throwing up.

She tapped shanzi on the shoulder and shanzi turned around.

She stood to the side and pointed at me and saw me crying...
I wasn't really dramatic but the tears showed nothing but pain on my face.

While arguing with her, people were trying to pull icy off of Darius.

The brother carried icy out the house and her sister asked

She let go of me and walked over to shanzi..

I heard those exact words.. And believe it or not my heart shattered.

Miranda hit Darius with her purse at least 8 times before someone grabbed her .

I stayed silent and just walked away to the car...
I sat up against the jeep and cried my life away.

She walked over to her sisters jeep and sat next to me.

I didn't say anything I just continued to stare at the ground.

Miranda stumbled over the rocks on the sidewalk..

"Alright imma go back to the house and talk to Darius brother... Let me know when you're ready."

Icy kneeled back down and wiped my cheeks..
"Marlee you can't let people get to you like that.. I know you liked him but he's not for you. And your friend ain't shit !!! I don't like her anyways, never did cause she tried talking to me only because I was on the football team. She not gay but she acting like she is..."
"She tried talking to you ?"

I wiped my nose on my sleeve and turned away.
