The Geminid Meteor Show of December 2007 peaked on December 15, 2007 and was visible with the naked eye on early hours of December 15, 2007.

The news clipping from a local newspaper has the following excerpt:

MANILA, Philippines — The annual Geminid meteor shower will be visible in the country starting today (December 07) until Dec. 17, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Geminids will peak on the night of Dec. 14 until the early morning hours of the following day.

"Under a dark and cloudless sky and just after midnight of its peak activity, meteors or falling stars can be seen at an average rate of 40 or more meteors per hour," PAGASA said.

I learnt more about it the following day, when all the news outlet were broadcasting the bright magical cosmic display on the news. The classes are suspended for the holiday preparations and 16th is the first morning of Misa De Gallo. Naturally, all of town is serenading on Christmas music. The festive family gatherings have also started infecting the neighborhood.

"You know Jose, some cultures believe that Meteor Showers signal famine and calamity. What do you think about that?" my cousin Julio playfully asked me as we were heading home from Church.

"Well that sounds like a lot of bull and what old people say to scare children." I snapped back in reply.

"Specifically, seeing a meteor suggested that a gift was given by heaven. It often represented a mystery coming from some incredible force larger than ourselves, the cosmos. A meteor represented awareness of recognition of something beyond our present experience.." he was reading the excerpt from the Astrology section of the newspaper. "Good heavens, you're right this is creepy shit," he proclaimed at the top of his lungs.
