Where I grew up, there is a long standing Catholic tradition I was accustomed to observe come Christmas time. As rich as we people get with decorations and festivities, the nine consecutive dawn masses we religiously attend to becomes almost a crime to miss.

The service starts as early as 04:00 in the morning and runs for an hour. As the roosters start crowing, throngs of people disperse from Church and share a breakfast together outside the halls. This practice was altered in some neighboring communities. Soon, some parish decide to offer services at night. Even then, my mother would insist early morning duties.

That morning when Kimm showed up was the first morning of Misa De Gallo. Lucio was anticipating this rendezvous for weeks. He was happy when I finally agreed to do it again after a two-year hiatus. The excitement on his face erased my reluctance to come. I knew Kimm would want us to do this.
