Concept: Kaminari and Jirou have a teenage daughter, and lately, they've been having trouble with her behavior. She rebels against her parents, and they're trying to figure out the best way to discipline her and help her.

(Kaminari's POV)

I knew having a kid would be hard, but I didn't think it'd be this hard.

Our daughter Kira is sixteen years old now. She's in high school, and during this time, the kids are expected to study for hours a day on top of their normal school days.

But Kira comes home, and I don't see her working on anything school related. When I ask her about it, she gets irritated. Today, she said she was going to study at a friend's house, but I doubt she did any actual studying. She didn't take her school stuff with her. While she was gone, I sort of did some snooping in her school bag. I just wanted to see if she was doing her work like she was supposed to.

In one of her notebooks, I found a folded piece of paper inside. I took it out and examined it. It was a report card from a few days ago.

I sigh to myself. She's not doing so good in her classes. I set the report card aside and waited for Kyouka to get home from work.

What are we gonna do with Kira?

____________

"Do you think she's been lying to us?"

I shrug, "I'm just saying I don't think she's really studying."

Kyouka sighs, holding her head, "Maybe we need to ground her."

"Ground her?"

"She shouldn't be allowed to hang out with her friends until she does some of her school work. That seems fair, right?"

"She's probably gonna fight us on that."

"I know, but we need to be more strict on her. We've been letting her get away with too much."

Kira did really good academically in middle school. I don't know what happened. It's like she just got distracted and gave up once she got to high school. We need to help her before it's too late.

We waited for Kira to come home. She came back just in time for dinner, so we thought we would talk to her about things while we ate.

"So, Kira." Kyouka says, "How's school going for you?"

"I don't know. Fine, I guess." Kira seemed irritated just at the sound of school.

Kyouka looks at me. Looks like it's my turn to step in.

"Kira, we saw your grades. We're worried about you, hon."

"You know how important school is." Kyo adds.

"I think we need to set some ground rules for you."

Kira just glared at us.

"From now on, if you want to go hang out with your friends, you have to study for at least an hour first."

"What?" She exclaims, "That's not fair!"

"Kira, kids your age are supposed to be studying two or more hours a day. We're trying to be reasonable with you."

"I don't need to study."

"If you keep going like this, you're not going to graduate high school, Kira. You need to try."

She crosses her arms, muttering under her breath, "Sorry you don't know what it's like to have friends."

"What was that?" Kyouka was getting frustrated now.
