~Mattheos pov~

I wake up in the morning, my arms wrapped around y/ns waist. I take in the smell of her beautiful hair and roll over slowly, trying to not wake her up just yet. I look over to the clock, it's almost time to get ready. But I really don't want to wake her up, she looks so peaceful...the way her chest slowly rises and falls, the soft groans she makes as she rolls around. It was the little things that were making me feel lucky, lucky to have her by my side, even if we weren't exactly 'together'.

I find myself thinking to the previous night. That intimate moment we shared together. Something I had been dreaming of since the first day we met. We hated each other, but we didn't. Not really. Well I'm not sure if she ever hated me, but I know for a fact I never hated her, and that's why I acted the way I did. Because when I first saw her my eyes could not stop glancing at her, the way my eyes lit up when she sat down with us for the first time and the way I silently smiled in my mind when she spoke. And that scared me. I had never felt anything like that for anyone before. So i ran. I pushed her away trying to force myself into not liking her, not smiling at her face, not thinking of her every second. But honestly every rude word I said, every time I glared at her, it only made me like her more. And the more time I spent around her, I realised I couldn't keep acting anymore. So we became friends. And now...maybe even something more than that.

"Hey princess, wake up" I gently rock her to wake her up

She rubs her eyes and groans a little as she stretches causing me to chuckle slightly. "It's time to get ready." I say as I admire how cute she looks in the morning.

~Theos pov~

I knock on the door to y/ns room, she opens it and I'm instantly met with those glistening eyes, and then Mattheos brown eyes.

"You guys ready?" I ask before they nod there heads and step out of the dorm. Mattheo and I walk y/n to her class and then go to our transfiguration class together.

The stone corridors of Hogwarts echoed with the sounds of students bustling to their classes. Mattheo and I's laughter ringing out like a melody amidst the chatter.

Mattheo grins "you know, Theo, I still can't believe you thought you could turn that rat into a goblet last week. What was it? A failed attempt?"

I snicker at his comment "Hey, it wasn't my fault! That rat had a mind of its own. Besides, who knew it would turn into a—what did you call it? A "rat-shaped disaster"?

We both burst into laughter, drawing curious glances from passing students.

Mattheo playfully nudges me "You should've seen your face! I thought you were going to cry when Professor McGonagall nearly hexed you for that one."

"Me? Cry? Never! I was merely—uh—practicing my dramatic flair. You know, for future performances."

Mattheo rolls his eyes, smirking.

"Right, because turning a rat into a goblet is definitely going to land you a spot on the stage. Maybe you should stick to being my sidekick instead." He says

"Sidekick? Please! I'm the brains of this operation. You're just the pretty face." I retort

Mattheo raises an eyebrow, a smirk still plastered on his face. "A pretty face? Is that what you tell yourself every night?"

I laugh shaking my head. "Well, someone has to keep the charm in this duo. If it were up to you, we'd be drowning in darkness and brooding looks."

As we approach the Transfiguration classroom, we slow down, exchanging conspiratorial glances.

Mattheo leans in,  "You know, if we get caught messing around again, McGonagall might actually turn us into something. Like, I don't know, a pair of toads?"

I grin "At least then we'd have an excuse to hop out of class. 'Sorry, Professor, we can't do our homework; we're toads!"

We both chuckle, pushing open the heavy wooden door to the classroom. Inside, students are settling into their seats, and the atmosphere buzzed with anticipation.

Mattheo takes a seat next to me "Just remember, if we turn into toads, I'm hopping right out of here and leaving you behind."

"Fine by me! Just means I'll have to find a new partner in crime. Maybe I'll recruit a rat instead." I smirk.

"Look at Finch. He's trying so hard to focus, but I think his brain's on vacation." Mattheo leans over to me and points

I glance over at Finch, who's squinting at his textbook as if it's written in an ancient language. I can't help but loudly snicker causing him to glance up at us.

"If he keeps that up, he might accidentally turn himself into a toad. No one would even notice." i whisper

Mattheo bursts into laughter, drawing a few glances from nearby students. He quickly stifles it, but I can see the grin spreading across his face.

Mattheo grins "I'd pay good money to see that! "Toad Finch" would be the highlight of the year."

As McGonagall begins her lecture, I lean back in my chair, my gaze drifting around the room. I spot Pansy, who's diligently taking notes, her brow furrowed in concentration.

I nudge Mattheo "Look at pug face Pansy. She's so serious! You'd think she's studying for her N.E.W.T.s already."

Mattheo doesn't say anything except for just burst out in laughter. McGonagall shoots a sharp glare at us before continuing the lesson. I cover Mattheos mouth with my hand and he pokes out his tongue.

"Ew! Dude you're so disgusting" I whisper trying to hold in my laughter, wiping my hand on his shirt. Just then, a loud crash interrupts our banter as one of the first-years knocks over a stack of books while trying to borrow something from the class.

I snicker "Oh, there goes another one!"

As McGonagall raises her voice to regain control of the class, I lean back, feeling a sense of camaraderie that only comes from years of friendship. No matter how serious things get, I know with Mattheo by my side, there's always room for laughter. He's my best friend. And probably one of the best ones I've ever had. He's like a brother to me. All the times he comes to visit my moms grave with me, cheering me up when I was sobbing over girls and making sure I'm not smoking too much. He's a great friend. A great brother.

~Mattheos pov~

Although I don't really speak up about this, but Theo was ultimately my best friend. The boy who I'd sneak out with to go drink, the boy who listens to my rants about my father and would get so angry with him, and the boy who's always around to have some fun and take my mind off things.

His mom died a few years ago, but I still get slightly worried about him sometimes. He has a bad smoking problem. And he can get pretty stressed out with certain things. But I try my best to keep up with him and to make sure he's okay. But it's kinda hard to, we're both definitely not open books that's for sure.
