❟❛❟ CHAPTER THIRTY THREE ❟❛❟

IT WAS LATE AT NIGHT WHEN AKAME slipped down to the common room. She was thirsty and restless, unable to sleep, her mind filled with things she couldn't ignore. Her silk pajamas flowed along her cold body, and she huddled close to herself as she passed through the large room lit only by moonlight.

The common room was still and shadowed, moonlight spilling across the space in soft, silvery waves. Her classmates had likely retired hours ago or were away for the weekend. But her steps faltered when she noticed an unexpected sight—Bakugou, lying shirtless on the couch, his damp skin gleaming faintly, as if he'd just come from the shower.

What is he doing here? It's past his bedtime.

Moonlight played across his skin, highlighting droplets of water that clung to his muscles from a recent shower. His face was softened by slumber, yet the latent intensity he carried was evident even in rest. Akame felt an inexplicable pull as she took in the unguarded moment, a mix of curiosity and something deeper, something that ignited a warmth she'd tried to ignore.

Without thinking, she approached him, her steps silent as she moved closer. Her breath slowed, and she hovered beside him, watching the subtle rise and fall of his chest. She extended her hand toward his neck, her fingers curling just slightly as if to hold him there, daring herself to close the distance. A flicker of something mischievous crossed her mind—a thought of danger, control. "Letting your guard down like this... You'd be easy to kill."

Her fingers brushed close to his skin, hovering near his cheek, when his hand shot up, catching her wrist with an iron grip. His eyes opened, the drowsiness edged with a spark of alertness, though he stayed languid, gaze meeting hers in a heavy silence.

"Caught you," he muttered, his voice low and rough, a faint smirk touching his lips.

"As I suspected, you weren't really asleep."

His gaze flickered with amusement, though his voice was a husky murmur. "What are you doing here? Can't sleep?"

"Thirsty," she replied, but her eyes lingered on the way droplets traced along his collarbone. A hint of a smile played on her lips. "And you? A late-night shower? You'll catch a cold."

Bakugou laughed softly, his grip effortlessly pulling Akame up before he shifted her to sit on his lap. His smirk was both lazy and wicked, his gaze holding hers with a spark of mischief as he noticed the slight surprise on her face. "What should I do? My shizun was so rough while teaching me that I got tired and fell asleep quickly," he drawled, his voice laced with playful sarcasm.
