A dense fog enveloped Konoha on this gloomy October afternoon. The psychiatric institute was the lone building on top of a small hill near the outskirts of town. The nearest structure from the site was the state prison, located a ten-minute drive away to facilitate the transport of patients.
The day went on as usual. Doctors met with their patients, guards did their regular rounds, psychiatrists traveled to court for expert testimonies, and Sakura Haruno sat across from Sasuke Uchiha in ward 13.
"You want us to prolong the session?" Sakura couldn't believe her ears. Had the world gone mad?
"I want us to part ways when it feels right, not when it's dictated by time." There was not a hint of playfulness in his tone.
"I'm afraid I can't do that, Mr. Uchiha-"
"Why, got other patients?" He chuckled at Sakura, who frowned in response. He had some nerve.
"I can't just stay here indefinitely. Plus, I'd need to get it approved by the head administrator, who isn't even here this week." Sakura started to gather her things.
"Don't you want to know why I didn't behead Deidara, Sakura?" Sasuke whispered sensually, like he was talking dirty to her. Sakura's body froze for a moment. After verifying that his tactics were having the desired effect, Sasuke leaned closer to her by leaning his elbows in the middle of the table.
"Why I didn't saw off his limbs, and instead only gouged his eyes out...?"
Sakura felt shivers down her body. God, she wanted to know badly. The victim named Deidara broke Sasuke's established M.O, and no one could understand why.
"W-we can talk about it tomorrow.." She mumbles as fast as she could before shoving her notebook into her purse.
"Will we?" Sasuke put his head down on the table on top of his forearms. The doctor stood in front of him, turned sideways to pack her items in her purse. Her face was obstructed by her pink hair, but he could tell she was experiencing turmoil.
In the meantime, his eyes began to explore. Taking off her lab coat was a great idea. The dress fit her great. He imagined what she dressed like outside of work, alone in her home, what she wore in bed...
"Dammit..." Sakura cursed under her breath. Judging from his demeanor, he would most certainly refuse to talk about any of this tomorrow. Or, even worse, he would give her some fabricated sob story and stop opening up about the truth.
It was now 3:05 P.M, and by protocol, there was a loud knock on the door. Every day after the sessions, Sasuke got escorted back to his ward by the guard on call. Sakura sighed, and walked to the door. Sasuke watched her with intent, eager to learn her decision.
The doctor opened the door and found herself standing in front of a guard she'd seen only a few times here and there, but he was still a familiar face.
"Good afternoon, Dr. Haruno."
