As the night wore on, Selene continued to remember more and more memories.
However, one particular memory caused her heart to ache, it was a scene that took place in the workshop. She had received a plush bear with a heart in the middle.
Selene heard him call her "love" and they began to chase each other. Suddenly, a loud voice called out to them, pulling her attention. She looked towards the sound and saw North's face. The scene progressed as she was introduced to the Guardians.
She gasped, opening her eyes, realizing they were with her the whole time. "You guys have been here the whole time?" she asked, feeling a pang of sadness for not recognizing them at first.
North, who was almost asleep, couldn't help but feel a burst of happiness as Selene finally turned her attention to him and the other Guardians.
"Well! It's about time!" he exclaimed.
Tooth took hold of her hand, comforting her with a gentle touch. "It's alright, Selene. It wasn't your fault," she reassured her.
Bunny hop-scratched his ear before hopping over to her bedside. "She's right," he said. "It was all Pitch's doing. You should rest now."
Despite the pain in her heart, Selene persisted, determined to recall more. Her hand gently touched her chest.
"I need to remember more," she whispered. "I want to know why it hurts so much."
The Guardians exchanged concerned glances and tried to persuade her, "You need to rest first," they said.
With determination, Selene shook her head, her voice trembling as she spoke, "I haven't seen his face yet. I want to remember him. I..."
Tears streamed down her cheek, "I miss him."
Tooth gently stroked Selene's back, her voice filled with sadness. "I know you miss him. It hurts me to see you in pain as well," she glanced at Sandy, signaling for him to intervene.
"But you need to sleep, Selene."
Before Selene could respond, Sandy gently blew a stream of golden sand right into her face, causing her to fall asleep.
Jamie looked at the Guardians, "Why can't she still see his face?" he asked, hoping they had the answer.
North sighed, "Pitch made sure she would suffer pain whenever she tried to remember him." he sighed, "What a wicked move."
Bunny approached Jamie, gesturing that it was time for him to return home. "You should rest too," he said.
Jamie stood up, his expression earnest. "But what about Jack? I can help save him," he voiced his determination.
Tooth gave him a gentle pat on the shoulder. "Let us take care of it," she assured him. "Selene can see us now. We can manage."
Disappointed yet understanding, Jamie's shoulders sagged. "Alright," he said. "Just be careful, okay?" His gaze shifted to sleeping Selene before turning back to them.
"Take care of her as well," he added, concern etched on his face.
North lifted his hand, reassuring Jamie with a firm promise,
"I promise."As Bunny hopped away with Jamie, Selene remained with Tooth and North in the room.
"I believe Selene loves Jack too," Tooth said softly, her hand tenderly stroking Selene's head. "But she's overwhelmed by reality. The reality is holding her back from fully embracing her feelings."
North took a seat on Selene's desk, his voice filled with understanding.
"Can you blame her? She's human," he muttered. "Jack knows, too. Their relationship just can't work, but she does love him, I see it in her eyes."
