Weeks passed, and Aanya's relationship with her parents began to thaw. They reached out more, expressing interest in Aanya's life and, surprisingly, Meera. It was a slow process, but Aanya could sense the shift.

Then, one afternoon, her mother called with a surprising invitation. "Aanya, we'd like you to bring Meera over for dinner this weekend. We want to get to know her."

Aanya's heart raced with a mix of excitement and anxiety. "Really? You want to meet Meera?"

"Yes," her mother replied. "We want to understand your life better."

That weekend, Aanya and Meera arrived at her childhood home, both nervous and hopeful. As they entered, Aanya's parents greeted them warmly, and for the first time, there was a sense of acceptance in the air.

Dinner was filled with tentative conversations, but Meera held her own, effortlessly engaging Aanya's parents with her charm and humor. Aanya watched in awe as Meera navigated the awkwardness, cracking jokes that made her parents laugh.

After dinner, while cleaning up, Aanya's mother pulled her aside. "She's lovely, Aanya. I can see why you care for her."

Aanya felt a wave of relief wash over her. "Thank you, Mom. I really hope you can accept us."

Her mother smiled softly. "I'm trying. I want you to be happy, and if Meera makes you happy, then I'll work on it."

As Aanya returned to the living room, her heart swelled with hope. She could see a glimmer of acceptance in her parents' eyes, and for the first time, she believed that their love could bridge the gap.
