As the four girls made their way back down the stairs, the atmosphere in Blackwood Manor remained thick with tension. They thought they were done with their trials—until the doors suddenly slammed shut once more, and a powerful gust of icy wind swept through the room.

“Alright, ghost lady,” Minji said, crossing her arms and narrowing her eyes, “we faced our fears. We kept up our end of the deal. Now let us go.”

The air grew still, and an amused, almost mocking laughter echoed through the hall. The ghostly figure reappeared, her eyes gleaming as she looked directly at Minji.

“You… the brave one,” she murmured, a hint of challenge in her voice. “You hide your fear well, don’t you?”

Minji scoffed, standing firm even as the ghost circled around her. “There’s nothing here I’m afraid of,” she replied coolly. “And if you think you can scare me, you’re wasting your time.”

Hanni’s eyes widened as she watched, clutching her hands tightly. “Uh, Minji, maybe we shouldn’t… provoke her?”

But Minji remained unfazed, her gaze never wavering. She stepped forward, putting herself between the ghost and her friends. “You tried to frighten us with illusions and mind games. I’ve seen worse.”

The ghost stopped, her face inches from Minji’s. She regarded her with a hint of respect, her smile fading as if realizing Minji wouldn’t be broken. “You are not like the others… But bravery can be a mask,” she whispered. “What would you do if you had to choose between yourself and those you love?”

A shiver ran through Haerin, Dani, and Hanni as the room grew colder. But Minji simply stood taller, her face hardened. “I already know what I’d do. I’d protect them, no matter the cost.”

The ghost looked into Minji’s eyes, seeing the truth and determination there. She could sense that Minji wasn’t just speaking for the sake of bravado—she truly meant every word. Slowly, the ghost began to dissolve into shimmering mist, her gaze softening.

“In all my years haunting this place,” the ghost murmured, “I have never encountered a spirit as fierce as yours. You may go.”

As the last remnants of the ghostly figure faded, the doors of the manor creaked open, flooding the room with moonlight. The chilling grip of the haunted house loosened, and a feeling of peace settled over them.

Dani let out a deep breath, her relief evident. “Minji, you were… incredible back there.”

Hanni nodded, her admiration clear. “You didn’t even flinch. I don’t know anyone who could face down a ghost like that.”

Minji shrugged nonchalantly, though a slight grin tugged at the corners of her mouth. “Well, it’s like I said. I’m not scared of things that go bump in the night.”

Haerin chuckled softly. “I’m starting to think you might be invincible, Minji.”

Minji laughed, playfully elbowing Haerin. “Hey, someone has to be the fearless one around here.”

Together, they stepped out of Blackwood Manor and back into the cool night. They walked side by side, each of them feeling stronger, braver, and closer than ever before. The haunted house had thrown its worst at them, but thanks to Minji’s unshakable resolve and their newfound unity, they had come out victorious.

And as the four of them looked back at the old manor one last time, they couldn’t help but smile—knowing that together, there was nothing they couldn’t face.
