The day after Neumi's birthday party, Therrien was back on set, preparing for another scene. Her mind, however, kept wandering back to the events of the night before. She tried to shake it off, but the thought of Red being there quietly watching her was hard to ignore.
Just as she was about to focus on her lines, she heard Neumi's familiar voice calling out, "Guess who's back!" Neumi waved enthusiastically as she and Charla walked onto the set.
Therrien raised an eyebrow, trying to hide her amusement. "You guys don't get tired, huh?"
Charla grinned. "Of course not! We're here for moral support. Plus, we need to make sure Red isn't making you nervous."
Rolling her eyes, Therrien tried to appear unbothered, but a small smile escaped. Before she could reply, her gaze fell on Red in the corner, going over the script with the director.
"Oh look, your favorite person is here," Charla teased, nudging Therrien playfully.
"Wow, how exciting," Therrien replied sarcastically, though her eyes lingered on Red just a second too long.
Neumi, sensing the tension, awkwardly tried to shift the conversation. "Okay, okay, stop teasing her, Charla."
They walked over to Therrien, who kept her focus elsewhere, pretending not to notice Red at all. But the tension between the two was thick, even from a distance. Neumi glanced at Charla and whispered, "Let's not push it, okay?"
Charla, smirking, whispered back, "It's like a bad rom-com."
Red, meanwhile, was still busy with the director, seemingly unaware of the looks being exchanged. After a while, Therrien was given a short break from shooting. She and Red eventually crossed paths, but it was strictly business.
"For the next scene, make sure to deliver the line more calmly," Red said quietly, not making much eye contact. "Your character is supposed to be in control."
"I know what my character's supposed to be like," Therrien responded coldly, her arms crossed.
There was an uncomfortable pause. Red cleared her throat, trying to keep the atmosphere professional. "I'm just trying to help, Therrien."
"Help with the project, not anything else," Therrien shot back, her tone sharp.
Red didn't push further. She gave a small nod and walked away, leaving Therrien to stew in her own thoughts. Neumi and Charla, who were observing from afar, exchanged glances.
"They're like ticking time bombs," Charla muttered under her breath.
"Just don't bring up their past," Neumi whispered. "It's making everything more uncomfortable."
Later, as the day came to a close and filming wrapped up, Neumi tried to lighten the mood. "Come on, let's grab lunch! I'm still celebrating my birthday."
Charla jumped in, "Yeah, let's go! You can't say no to food, Therrien."
Therrien hesitated, glancing briefly at Red, who was packing up her things. "I don't know..."
"It's fine," Red cut in, her tone casual. "I have work to finish anyway."
Neumi pouted, "Come on, just one meal. Let's all relax after this long day."
After a little convincing, Therrien finally agreed, though the tension was still there. As they left the set together, Neumi and Charla kept the conversation light, joking and laughing. But no one missed the lingering awkwardness between Therrien and Red as they walked in silence, trying to act like everything was normal when it clearly wasn't.
While they were eating and talking, Therrien's co-star in the movie, Waren, coincidentally walked into the same restaurant. He smiled as he approached their table, greeting everyone. Therrien gave a friendly nod, oblivious to the fact that Waren had feelings for her.
Red, on the other hand, wasn't surprised. She knew about Waren's crush on Therrien for a while now, having overheard some conversations back on set. As Waren exchanged casual banter with the group, Red could feel a small pang of jealousy. She watched the way he looked at Therrien, the subtle way his eyes lingered a little too long when she spoke.
But Red stayed silent, hiding her feelings. She wouldn't let it bother her. After all, she had no right to feel this way anymore, especially after everything that happened between her and Therrien. Still, the jealousy was there, quietly simmering under the surface.
Waren laughed at something Charla said, his gaze shifting back to Therrien. Red took a sip of her drink, reminding herself to keep her cool. It wasn't worth making a scene over, even if it did sting a little.
