Chapter 2: Call For Help

The phone number displayed on her screen was unfamiliar, but it didn't matter to her. This call was the lifeline that she needed for a chance to escape. With it, maybe she could try tipping off her predicament to whoever was trying to call her. Her grip tightened as her finger secretly pressed the answer button. She immediately lowered the caller's volume to prevent the caller's voice from being heard and hid it inside her pocket.

After confirming that the caller stayed, Sora asked Suisei in a slightly louder voice, in hopes of letting her voice be heard. "Why did you kidnap me, then?! Was it just because you wanted to as well?"

Suisei answered while fiddling with the GPS on her phone, "You're asking that right off the bat? You're surprisingly forward, aren't you?"

Suisei's sudden jest caught Sora off guard. Sora could barely flounder a response, "T-That's not important! Just tell me why you kidnapped me!"

"Ahahaha!" Suisei let out a laugh at Sora's embarrassment before answering her. "You're interesting, alright. From the stupid look that you had the first time I saw you, your captivating face that pulled me in, to your clueless reaction to everything... Haaa~ They made my heart race like crazy! I've never been bored when I'm around you, Sora!"

Her ecstatic answer sent a shiver across Sora's body. The madness dripping from Suisei's voice was enough to convince Sora that she shouldn't get involved with this girl. She did her best to gather every bit of courage in her heart to stand her ground.

Suisei continued, uncaring of Sora's reaction, "Hey, Sora. Be mine, won't you? I'll make sure to take care of you and shower you with love every day. We'll go around doing whatever we want, whenever we want. Doesn't that sound great?"

Despite her fear of the girl next to her, Sora stubbornly gritted her teeth and answered, "As if! I won't fall for you, ever!"

"Hahahaha! See? You're really interesting! I seriously can't get bored by you!" Against Sora's expectation, Suisei laughed once more at Sora's refusal. "Well, it's okay. We'll be spending a lot of time together, so think about it some more, okay? I'll make sure you fall for me."

Sora could tell that she couldn't convince Suisei otherwise. To Suisei, Sora's acceptance didn't matter. She would continuously pester her until Sora eventually gave in, or when she finally got bored of her.

With convincing Suisei out of the question, Sora did her best to provide more information to her unknown caller. "Anyway, where are you taking me? All I've seen are the desert and the mountains. What's the point of driving this car when you'd just get recognized with this stolen car?"

"Who knows? Wherever the road takes us, I guess." Suisei muttered before stopping her car at a gas station by the side of the road. "And for the car... I guess I could borrow a different car."

"By borrow, did you mean steal?"

"If you say it like that, you're going to make me sound like a bad person, you know? Hahaha," Suisei dismissed Sora's question lightly with a smile.

Dusk had covered the sky, with only the yellow neon lights from the gas station lighting the inside of the car. After parking her car at the side of the gas station, Suisei turned toward Sora and looked her in the eye. Her gaze made Sora's entire body stiffen, as if she were a deer staring right into headlights. A dangerous glint flashed within Suisei's eyes as she moved closer to Sora.

"You know that I've been nothing but kind to you, right? It's not like I hurt you or anything, Sora," Suisei whispered, her hand softly caressing Sora's cheek.

"..."

Sora's body froze, unable to come up with any answers. Even if she hadn't directly harmed her, who knows what would happen if she continued to stick around with this girl? She decided that staying quiet would be the best option for her.
