Chapter 5: Disaster Has Arrived

The sudden entrance done by Suisei was simply too surprising. Everyone remained motionless as Suisei walked with a submachine gun in hand past the broken mess that she had created. Without caring about anyone else, her eyes were locked to a girl that she came for.

"You okay, Sora?" she asked while examining her all over.

The sight of Suisei worrying about her made Sora feel conflicted. On one hand, seeing her one more time brought an inexplicable sense of joy within her. It was as if her cry for help had been answered. But on the other hand, she felt an encroaching guilt crawling within her heart. Because of her selfish desire, now Suisei will suffer just as she would.

'A horrible person like me doesn't deserve to be happy,' Sora cursed herself with a pained expression.

Seeing the shadow on Sora's face, Suisei asked her, "Oi, are you alright? Did they mess with you or something-"

"Hold it right there!"

The sudden shout from the sides pulled Suisei's attention. She immediately pointed her weapon toward the source, where Subaru and Kanade had busted in with pistols in hand. With guns pointed at each other, the tension around them was ripe to set off like gunpowder.

"Fancy seeing you here, officers." Suisei casually called them out without showing any concerns.

"Give it up, Suisei! You're surrounded!" Subaru threatened.

The corner of Suisei's lips rose after hearing her threat. "With just the both of you? Hardly."

Subaru's eyebrows twitched from Suisei's taunt. Although she would've liked to shoot her right this instant, she needed to make sure the others were in position to successfully apprehend her. She couldn't give Suisei a chance to escape because she was unable to control her emotions.

"Chief, should I shoot now?" Kanade eagerly asked.

"Not yet!" Subaru stopped Kanade before responding calmly to Suisei, "Idiot, feel free to act all high and mighty now, but soon you'll see-"

Bzzt! Click!

The radio on Subaru's shoulders suddenly buzzed to life, interrupting her. A crackled voice filled with urgency rang out from it, "C-Chief! Bad news!"

Subaru clicked her tongue at the interruption. While maintaining her pistol and eyes on Suisei, she answered the radio. "What is it, Iroha? Just bust in already; she's trapped like a fish in a barrel!"

"That's the problem, chief!" Iroha answered with the same urgency. "Her car blocked the entrance! We can't get in!"

"What?!"

Iroha's words caused Subaru to turn toward the entrance. As Iroha had said, the car had perfectly wedged against the entrance, leaving no gap for the officers outside to enter. The car also prevented them from finding a clear shot on Suisei.

'That girl... Did she plan all this?' A cold sweat rolled down her head from this realization. When she looked at Suisei to find the answer, a smirk was plastered on her face.

"So? Are you going to surround me anytime soon?" Suisei taunted once more. Her eyes curved upwards, clearly enjoying Subaru's troubles.

"You bastard...!" Subaru could only swear in response. Handling Suisei with just the two of them would be too much to handle, especially with a hostage in hand. Her mind felt like a mess from how her plan went down the drain.

"Chief? Should I shoot now?"

"We're blocked! Should we go around from the front entrance?"

The constant questions from her subordinate weren't helping with her headache either. She decided to make a choice by answering her radio. "Yes, just go around, damn it!"
