Hello, it's NotToYu, author of the story you just finished! I often yap about my story after I finished it, so I would post an afterwords chapter after I finished a story. Of course, before I say anything else, I have to say something first to you:

Thank you!

First of all, I wanted to say thank you to everyone who read this story! To everyone that supported this story, whether by voting, commenting, putting it into your reading list, or even just reading it, thank you very much for your support! Every bit of support you gave me really helped me to keep writing another day, so seriously, thank you!

Honestly, this story wasn't planned at all. I was in the middle of writing another story during the HoloGTA event, and the scenarios that kept happening in that event were too entertaining. I ended up deciding to write a compilation of short stories based on those events, with the story of Suisei taking Sora hostage being the first one. Back then, I thought to myself "Okay, it's probably going to be five chapters max, no biggie."

If you're reading this now, you can tell that I might've gone a bit over that amount.

(Un)fortunately, this story idea was too entertaining to cut short. Every time I'm writing a chapter, new ideas to continue expanding the story would keep popping in, making me redo the ending twice in the end. With how long I've been writing this story, I decided to scrap the other short stories idea and focused on this one. Despite how much of a pain in the ass this story had been, I can say that I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I haven't been writing angsty stuff in a while, so I'm glad to be back in it again.

If there's one thing I could comment on in my story, it's that I felt really bad about making Subaru act a bit out of character. But I really needed a villain!!! I did remember her making a shady deal with Polka, so something like this should be fine, right? Right? I really hope you enjoyed seeing Subaru acting villainous for once, though. It felt a bit hard to write, but I gave it my best shot.

For the main character, it's definitely Suisei. Because of her past, Suisei turned into a girl that only did what she wanted. But by doing so, she lost a part of herself and became unable to understand the impact of her actions on others. While that meant she couldn't understand the pain she had inflicted on others, she also couldn't understand the joy that she gave to Sora. Even her understanding of love was limited to a sense of possessiveness, which led to her attempt in monopolizing Sora during her last moments.

At the end, she still didn't understand the pain she inflicted on the one person that cared about her. She remained unfazed when facing her death, but finally faltered when she thought of Sora. I wanted to show her vulnerable sides only against her loved one. This resulted in her final moment being one where she could only wonder if Sora loved her, not realizing that she already obtained her love.

Honestly, I wasn't thinking of giving her a backstory at the start. She was just going to be a maniac for the entire story. But ideas about her backstory popped up in my head and it felt too good to pass up, so I ended up adding it. The idea of it was having Hololive exist within the city of HoloSantos. However, good things couldn't be happening in the city of HoloSantos. The fall of Hololive led to Suisei's fall, and it led to the current Suisei that we have in this story. Although it was a sudden addition, hopefully you enjoyed it.

Our heroine is Sora, the naive girl that hadn't known better. She found everything crumbling around her in a single night. Her lack of confidence led her to blame herself for things that happened outside of her control. However, one person who believed in her helped to get her back on her two feet. The meeting between a hopelessly selfish girl and the hopelessly selfless girl mended her heart and allowed Sora to find her strength to keep on living.

Another change I made in the middle of writing the story was on Sora's ending. Originally, her ending was supposed to be more bleak, with her pursuing a revenge for Suisei instead as a cabaret girl. Living as a girl that lost a piece of herself, she would live a life not too far off from Suisei's. However, it just felt too depressing. Plus, I want to write a more hopeful ending too. In the end, I managed to link Suisei's backstory into a happier ending for Sora. Even with the loss of Suisei, Sora was able to gain closure and move forward with her dream.

Adding Suisei's song into the story was also another addition that I had. I already wrote how the flow of the new ending would go, and I thought having Suisei's song as a trigger for Sora to move forward while showing Suisei's refusal to give up on her dream sounds pretty good. The image of a comet that shined brightly without anyone noticing, hoping for someone to find it one day was too good to pass up. I decided to listen to Suisei's songs while writing this part to get into the mood. While listening to 'comet', I decided to look up the lyrics out of curiosity, and the lyrics somehow fit the idea that I have in my mind?? Am I actually a genius writer?

Putting that aside, I added the embed youtube link into the story so you can listen along while reading to get into the mood. I don't know if it worked out well, but I hope it adds to the experience!

I wanted to drop in a bit of closure on Suisei's old idol agency too. But it felt too much and would ruin the overall emotion of the epilogue, so I decided to cut it out. Who knows, maybe there was a certain old man and a former idol who heard the voice of a street performer by the beach of HoloSantos. I can't write it in, but I hope you can imagine them finding their own closure as well.

Future plans

Of course, I still have a lot of things I want to write. Too many actually. I seriously wonder if I could ever write them all, but I'll just keep writing and wonder about that later.

My next story's going to be about Elizabeth Rose Bloodflame and Nerissa Ravencroft, the Bloodraven pair! I don't want to spoil too much, but it'll be on the angsty spectrum as well. Please look forward to it! I usually give updates on my current works, so give me a follow if you're interested in my future works.

While you wait, feel free to check my other stories! I've written both Hololive and Nijisanji stuff, but since you're here for Hololive, I'll recommend you a Hololive story.

In this story, Kronii found that her HoloPromise friends were acting differently than usual. Not only were they behaving strangely, they're also a lot more... affectionate than usual. Watch along as Kronii tries her best to navigate through their strange and newfound love for her, most of which ends with a less-than-desirable outcome for Kronii and a highly entertaining outcome for us. It has a more romcom style of writing compared to this story, but if you enjoyed those, please give it a look!

Of course, I'd appreciate it if you check my other stories as well while you wait for my next stories. Thank you very much for sticking this far, and I hope you'll continue to do so! See you again!
