Ward Cameron had died.

That was the talk of the day at Kildare Academy, and would probably be the talk of the century.

Rumors had spread around like wildfire, all of them different theories about the happening.

Sarah died with him.

John B made the boat explode.

He killed himself after admitting the murder he had committed.

The last one was what truly happened that fatefully day, Gianna had seen it all with Rafe by her side.

When the two arrived at Tannyhill, the Cameron's yacht sat in the middle of the marsh, taken over by flames. Sarah's sobs were so powerful, they could be heard from the entrance to the property.

Rafe, on the other hand, stayed no more than thirty seconds by Gianna, before running to the docks.

The honey blonde didn't know what to do, what to say, hell, how to act. She solely got in her car and drove off. She didn't even notice she was crying until she felt single tears streaming down her cheeks.

Though, her reminiscing was interrupted with Nate Chasen leaning against her locker aggressively.

"Oh, phew! Thank God you're alive," the boy spoke, placing a relieved hand on his chest.

Gianna frowned. "Why wouldn't I be alive?"

"Because for the first time in, I don't know, a decade you missed a tennis class."

Oh shit.

Instead of going to her weekly classes with Nathaniel, Gianna had gone to tend other problems, completing forgetting about their encounter.

She screwed her eyes shut. "Oh my God, Nate. I'm so sorry, I totally forgot."

"What the hell were you doing anyway?" He asked, crossing his arms.

I was picking Rafe Cameron up from jail after he got arrested for killing sherif Peterkin.

She forced out a laugh. "I fell asleep, my bad."

The boy held a skeptical look on his face, but alas, he shrugged, accepting the words she was speaking.

"Okay... anyway, are you going to the Brock's pregame tonight?"

She took out the notebooks she needed out of her backpack. "Yeah, then we're all going to the bonfire." She chewed on her lip.

Though, her facade wasn't enough to keep her true emotions from appearing across her face. After the events of yesterday, her main worry was Rafe. Not even her own mother, who was high twenty-four hours ago managed to plague her mind like the Cameron boy did.

His father had died, and honestly, Gianna was afraid he'd go on some killing spree because of it. If he had killed Peterkin because his father was in trouble, then what would he be capable of doing once his father was dead.

The worry was painted across Gianna's blank canvass of a face, and Nate Chasen was no blind person.

He stopped her before she could run off to her next class. "Yo, are you sure you're okay?" He questioned her one last time.

Gianna, noticing her mask was slipping, took in a deep breath and called upon the Kookiest of Kook Gianna Gray could possibly become, plastering a smug smile on her face and tilting her head upward as if a gold crown sat over her head.
