In the quiet, late afternoon light filtering through the window, Jungkook stood with arms crossed, watching as Jimin flitted around the room like an overexcited butterfly. Every few seconds, Jimin would pop up with something new to shove into his bag, his playful grin never fading. Jungkook's initial amusement was starting to dissolve into exasperation as Jimin tossed in yet another brightly colored scarf, a stack of notebooks, and even a jar of glitter. It was beginning to look like they were preparing for a carnival, not a forest trip.
"Jimin-ah," Jungkook sighed, struggling to keep his voice calm, "we're not moving to another country. We're just going to the forest."
Jimin paused, clutching a rainbow-striped scarf in one hand and a small plushie in the other, his wide eyes blinking up at Jungkook as if he couldn't comprehend what the fuss was about. "But hyung, what if we get bored? I need my crayons, too," he said earnestly, holding up a bundle of mismatched crayons like they were essential survival gear.
Jungkook felt his patience slipping. "Crayons?" He raised an eyebrow, lips pressing together to hold back his laugh. "Jimin, we're not going to sit around coloring in the middle of the woods. You do know what a forest trip is, right?"
"Of course!" Jimin responded, unfazed. "It's just... what if we're lost and can't find our way back? I could leave little crayon marks on the trees!"
"Sure, that'll really save us when we're fighting off bears," Jungkook muttered, massaging his temples.
In the background, Taehyung was having his own kind of meltdown, laying out what looked like a week's worth of snacks, instant ramen, a pile of chocolate bars, and an assortment of spices, as though they were about to open a pop-up restaurant in the wilderness. J-Hope was in a similar frenzy, lining up an entire medical kit that rivaled a hospital's, meticulously checking and re-checking each item as if they were preparing for a high-stakes expedition.
"Hyung, hyung!" Jimin's voice broke into Jungkook's thoughts, drawing his attention back to the eager face holding up a pair of neon-pink socks. "What if it rains? I'll need extra socks, right?"
Jungkook was speechless for a moment. "You know, usually, people just bring a raincoat."
"But I need options!" Jimin protested, tossing the socks into the bag with a triumphant smile.
Jungkook was seconds away from a mini-breakdown when Jimin suddenly grabbed a small jar of glitter from his dresser, holding it up with wide, innocent eyes. "And this! In case we need to signal for help, I can sprinkle it in the air, like a fairy trail!"
"No. Absolutely not," Jungkook stated, his tone dead serious.
"But hyung!" Jimin pouted, his lips forming the cutest, most stubborn frown. He clutched the jar tightly. "What if something happens and I need to attract attention?"
"Are you planning to signal rescue helicopters with glitter? Or maybe the forest animals will come to your aid?" Jungkook asked, half-joking, half-serious.
Before Jimin could respond with some other quirky justification, Taehyung's voice called out from the kitchen, "Yah! Who took my spicy ramen packs? I swear I had five of them here!"
Jimin grinned mischievously, his eyes darting to the ramen sticking out of his bag. "Oops."
Jungkook rolled his eyes, almost impressed by Jimin's audacity. "You're stealing ramen now?"
"Borrowing!" Jimin corrected with a cheeky smile. "I'll replace it when we come back... maybe."
Jungkook was too tired to argue further, resigning himself to the fact that Jimin was going to bring a bizarre collection of items, no matter what he said. He watched as Jimin zipped up the overstuffed bag with an air of satisfaction, looking incredibly pleased with himself.
