We all then set up the needed preparations for tonights Hide and Seek game. The temperature dropped instantly, seeing everyone rubbing their hands together to create heat. We could hear the Skimich Campsite sign dangling endlessly from the wind, it created a creaking sound. From a distance, it sent shivers down my spine.
"Alright, before we begin, I'd like to point out some rules. Alright?" Jace spoke out to everyone, wearing a big puffy jacket to hide his freezing body from the cold. Monet looked at him dead in the eye and scoffed, "Um, why are you wearin' a jacket but not us?" Jace gave her a smirk and replied back with mockery. "Well, you all should of brought your own jackets." He was interrupted by the sound of the generator behind the cabin once again, I flinched when I heard the loud noise. At least I'm not cold much anymore. Abil pulled me behind him with his arm and his head turned towards the noise.
"Relax guys, it's probably just the generator. Right, Jacey?" Gwen turned towards Jace and called him a pet name. One thing about Jace is that he hated pet names, especially Gwen calling him 'Jacey,' but he lets it slide every once in a while. "Right. Dont let some stupid generator sound ruin the mood" Jace tells everyone with a smile, he then proceeds to lay out the rules. "I'm only going to tell everyone this once and once only, only because I'll forget the rules so remind me." Everyone laughed a bit while crossing their arms to try and gather enough heat as possible. I couldnt't help but feel a tad bit scared for the games. I always had this instinct of mine that something bad would happen, and if I'm being honest right now. I'm always right. Something about these woods freak me out, ever since Jace told that story I've been more paranoid than ever.
Jace kept going on and on about the rules, mainly all of them werent even rules. Gwen saw me staring off into space and raised her eyebrow. "Sorry to interrupt, Jacey. But, Priscilla isnt listening to you."
"Whys that your business if she is or isnt, Gwen? None of the shit Jace is saying are even rules." Monet interrupted her, moving closer to her with an angry expression. Gwen saw how Monet reacted to her statement, "Clearly she couldnt care less about what he's saying. She barely even spoke since we've been here."
"And, the whole edgy goth girl act is old. We came here to have fun, not be surrounded by your stupid act."
"Jee, I wonder whats stopping us from having fun. Maybe the fucking bitch who cant keep her mouth shut about Pri." Monet spoke up, looking at me then back at Gwen. "You seem to have an obsession with her, the constant talking about her shows a lot to a person, Gwen."
Jace scoffed angrily and stepped in between Gwen and Monet to break up the fight. "Would you two just stop?! The fighting is so tiring and draining. Both of you grow up, holy shit." As they kept talking, I looked over to my side and noticed that Abil was leaning against the tree, smoking a cigarette. He notices my curious glare and steps on the cigarette onto the leaves and crossed his arms.
"You tired too?" He asked me, running his fingers through my hair while placing his hand on my cheek, I leaned my head into his hand and held it with my other hand. "Just a bit, or if your talking about the constant fighting, then yes." He laughed under his breath and smiled, looking into my eyes with a tired expression. "You always had that sense of humor I loved."
I was about to reply til Jace interrupted our small moment. "Alright people, you ready for the Hunger Games?" He joked, looking at both of our faces for a reaction to brighten the mood. "Hunger Games is a weird way to put it." I replied back to him, then walking towards Monet. Once Jace and Abil were alone, Jace shook Abil's shoulders in panic. "Dude, you got to do something about her." "Relax, J. Small steps til she can trust me again. We're making progress, okay?"
Jace looked at him with an unsatisfied expression and snickered. "You call that progress? You have to make her feel bad for you in a way. Thats the key to getting women, alright?" Abil shook his head, then for a moment something clicked in his brain. "You know what? You're right. I'll think of something" They both walked towards the rest of the group after their conversation.
