The house was filled with shouts and curses. "Percy, have you seen my purse?" "Annabeth, come here for a second, please!" "Frank, c'mon. Really?" "Leoooo!" "Guys, we have to leave!" "DI ANGELO; WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT" "Guys I am hungryyy"

Percy watched his friends and chuckled. He leaned against the wall and grinned. Annabeth frantically combed her hair with a green plastic hairbrush Rachel gave to her. Piper ran around stuffing everything she could into her handbag. Kalypso chastised Frank for forgetting to water the houseplant. He looked down, dejected. Hazel checked off what she needed for the evening on a handwritten list. Will chased Nico around the kitchen. Jason tried to calm Piper down, meanwhile Leo sat in the kitchen, eating chocolate.
Annabeth came over to Percy and kissed him on the cheek.

"I love you, Seaweed Brain. We'll be back in a few hours"

"I love you too, wise girl. It's okay, take as much time as you want. I know you've been looking forward to this evening for long. But, please take care of yourself. There's been no monster attack for today, I really don't know why, and I am afraid they just wait for you all to leave the house. Be careful."

"I will be. And, seaweed brain, are you sure you don't want to come?"

Percy's expression darkened.

Hazel,  Frank, Nico and Will were going on a double date (Mostly so Nico could have an eye on the two), his other friends were going to a restaurant, to meet their mortal friends, have a bit fun and maybe even drink a bit. Rachel would stay home with Percy. Percy told his friends he got homework to do, but that wasn't the real reason why he didn't want to come. He never told his friends, but the restaurant, where they wanted to go, was a restaurant Gabe used to visit with his friends, by the time he wasn't as fat as a human walrus and sometimes even got up to shop. This place was bad memories to Percy. Without noticing it, Percy ran his hand over a small scar on his wrist.

--Flashback, 8 years before--

"Gabe, are you ready to go?", Sally called. She was looking for her lipstick in her purse, while Percy was standing next to her, feeling useless. Percy didn't want to go, but he thought his mom feared he would burn down the house if he was alone. Or destroy the toilet. Just to say so, he did that one time. It was an accident and he still didn't know how it happened.

Gabe, Mom, a few of her friends and Percy wanted to go to a little restaurant in the nowhere to celebrate Mom's  39th birthday. Percy knew, he should be more excited, but he didn't really think this whole celebration in a fancy bar was necessary. Wasn't it the same as eating something at home?

They were waiting for Gabe, who was still changing clothes. Percy refused to wear the stupid shirt and soon, Mom gave up and let him wear a normal T-shirt and jeans. Gabe came out of the room and Percy had to suppress a giggle. Gabe had slapped his little hair to the side with too much gel, and he didn't quite fit into the suit. It just looked ridiculous. Even Mom seemed to hold back her laughter.
