Every girl wanted him. He was used to girls chasing him down just to get his autograph. He wasn't used to girls turning him down, or not wanting to get to know him.
But on the set of his parents tv show "Ozzy And Harriet" he is to date this girl Mar...

Ricky and I were looking into buying a house together. I knew my father was not going to approve of that. He wanted me to get married when I was done with high school.
But these were different times now. And I wanted to live with Ricky. Who knew maybe later on down the line we would get married.
Living together would be good for us to see if we would be compatible living together. I did not need a roommate I needed Ricky. He was busy as was I when we were off set.
Doing interviews and radio shows. Lots of things going on for us both. Good things. I was offered to guest star on "Leave It To Beaver" to possibly date his older brother on the show.
I turned the role down. Because I loved the Nelson family. I loved playing and being Ricky's girlfriend. I was home making lunch for my folks while thinking of ways to tell them that I was going to be leaving the nest here soon. Then the phone rang before the soup boiled on the stove. I was making sandwiches to go with it too.

"Hello?"
"Is this Mary Lou?"
"This is she" I answer.
"We were wondering why you turned down the role for this show? It is a chance for new roles? It is only for one season" the man says on the other end. It was the casing director from "Leave It To Beaver"
"As I said before I am not interested in leaving the Nelson family. I am happy where I am now" I state sternly. "Currently, I am not looking for any other roles"
"Really?" they say. "When you are being booted soon? We hear that the writers are giving Ricky a new love interest"
I was shocked to my core. They never told me that. No such thing. Not even Ricky. Did they hate me? Did they not like me any more?
My hands shake as I stir the soup as it comes to a boil. Why did Ricky not tell me anything? No one not even David told me.
"I did not know about this" I say softly. "No one told me yet"
"Oh..."
"Yes, news to me" I say as tears of woe come to my eyes.
Feeling an overwhelming sadness rushing into my body now.
"I am sorry. We assumed you already read the scrips and knew. We had no idea. If you change your mind you are wanted with us" he reminds me. "I will let you go. You have a good day"
We hang up the phone call. Tears splatter on the ground. Paula comes in at that moment.

"What is it? Did Ricky cheat on you?" she demands to know.
"No"
"Are you hurt?" she wants to know. I shake my head. She turns off the stove for me. And has me sit down. I tell her everything they just said. "It can not be true! Ricky or David would have told you by now" she points out. "They are lying"
"I do not know" I sigh.
"Mary Lou this came for you. The script for the show" mom says as she hands me the mail.
I rip it open. And as I see the title it reads "The Big Break Up" I shake my head. So it was true! They were writing me off the show. Without telling me I was fired. I head over to the phone.
"What? What is it?" Paula demands to know.
"David?! Is Ricky there? Yes, I have read the script. I am not happy about it. You guys do know I was offered a role on Leave It To Beaver and I might take them up on their offer. At least they tell a girl what is going on" I stammer.
"Calm down honey. It is a misunderstanding" David tried to tell me.
"Oh sure, I see the title. The Big Breakup" I scoff. "Pretty clear to me"
"Just read the whole script" he pleads.
"I will be to busy. I am going to call and take the other offer so I have work" I calmly say.
Then I hang up the phone on them. I all the other producer back.
"I will like to try out for that role after all. I see what you say is true" I tell him.
"I am sorry but sure we can set up a meeting now" he cheerfully tells me.
We make a meeting for next Tuesday at noon. Then I have lunch with my family. I tell them everything that is going on.

"I can't believe they are doing this to you" my dad says.
"And Ricky did not tell you one word about it" sighs mother as she shakes her head. The doorbell suddenly rings.
"I will see who is at the door" Paula says to us.
She comes back soon. "It is Ricky. He wants to speak with you" she tells me.
"Tell him another time. I am not in the mood to talk" I say. "I do not wish to talk with him"
She nodded then went back to tell him the news. Later that night he kept trying to call to talk to me. Finally dad placed the phone off the hook. I tried to read the script.
I came to the part where Ricky breaks up with Mary Lou for a woman named Tracy. I wince. I have tears coming to me. I set the script down on the bed.
Did he want to break up with me in real life to? And would whoever played Tracy win him over? And then we would split apart?
This was show business. I sigh as I lay on the bed. I turn on the radio. I gaze out the window. I had his necklace on me still. I remove it.
It was sure going to be a very long week. I had to figure out if I wanted to keep acting or end things here. I so happy last week now I felt like my best friend died. When someone did not want you anymore it felt that way. Like they died.
Or a part of you did.
