In the end, they traded their tired wings for the resignation that living brings. And exchanged love's bright and fragile glow for the glitter and the rouge, and in the moment they were swept before the deluge.

Fuyuki City
2nd of September 2004, 21:00 PM

The crisp, cool air of autumn filled the night as Galateya and the cloaked traveler Romani reappeared within the ancient grounds of Ryuudou Temple in Fuyuki City. The temple was nestled among a canopy of trees, their branches swaying gently in the wind, casting long shadows across the stone paths. The temple grounds were eerily quiet, the kind of silence that felt heavy, as though the forest itself was holding its breath. Overhead, the sky was an inky black, scattered with stars that flickered faintly through the breaks in the canopy.

Galateya’s frail form shivered slightly as they materialized, her large, dull eyes scanning their surroundings. She was still visibly shaken from the events earlier in the night---the explosive battle, the presence of that colossal warrior, Berserker, and her own reckless dash into danger. Her white hair fluttered in the breeze, and she instinctively clutched the fabric of Romani’s cloak, seeking comfort.

After a few moments, she broke the silence, her voice barely above a whisper. “I am very sorry. I do not know why I ran away, twice now. It was not like me. It is just that the owl. It was calling to me.”

The traveler paused, his amber eyes narrowing slightly beneath the shadow of his hood. His gaze flickered with a mix of suspicion and concern as he thought back to the white owl that had appeared during the battle. It had seemed almost out of place, its large blue eyes fixated on Galateya. Romani had dismissed it at the time, but now.

“The owl was calling to you?” he repeated softly, more to himself than to her. He frowned, his mind churning with possibilities. There was something unnatural about that creature---something more than just an animal.

As they began walking toward the temple itself, Romani sighed deeply. He could feel Galateya’s nervous energy, her uncertainty, and he knew she needed guidance now more than ever. “You cannot be reckless like that, little one. Fuyuki City is not safe. There are dangerous forces at play here---people who wield power beyond anything you have ever seen.” He glanced down at her, his tone softening slightly. “Running into danger without thinking can get you killed. Do you understand?”

Galateya looked up at him, her blue eyes wide and filled with guilt. “I did not mean to cause trouble. It is just it felt like I had to go. Like something was pulling me.” She hesitated, then lowered her gaze to the ground. “I won’t do it again, I promise.”

Romani nodded, his expression softening further. He did not want to scare her, but she needed to understand the risks. Fuyuki was no ordinary city, especially now, during this war. As they continued up the stone steps toward the temple’s entrance, he kept a watchful eye on their surroundings. The night seemed too quiet, too still, and he could not shake the feeling that something---or someone---was watching them.
