Yet each man kills the thing he loves. By each let this be heard. Some do it with a bitter look. Some with a flattering word. The coward does it with a kiss. The brave man with a sword.

Fuyuki City
8th of September 2004, 7:30 AM

The early morning light filtered through the thin curtains of the room, painting soft streaks of gold on the walls as Rin sat by the window, her face set with determination. The events of the previous night weighed heavily on her mind----the nightmare Galateya had described, the ominous shift in their situation. The brunette mage glanced at the small figure still wrapped in blankets on the couch, the little girl's face pale and troubled even in sleep. The child stirred slightly, her small frame curling up tighter, as if the nightmares still held her in their grip.

With a sigh, Rin stood and began gathering her belongings, her movements purposeful but careful not to wake the others. The day ahead was fraught with uncertainties, but they had no time to delay. Every second counted now, and there was too much at stake.

"Let's get going," Rin said, her voice calm but firm. There was a subtle edge of anxiety in her tone, a product of her sleepless night and the weight of the war pressing down on her shoulders. "The sooner we start, the sooner we can make sense of all this."

Romani, seated near the door, slowly rose to his feet, rubbing his temples as if still shaking off the grogginess of sleep. He had stayed up late, watching over Galateya and ensuring she rested. His gaze softened as he looked at the little girl, who was now awake but quiet, her wide eyes still clouded by the remnants of her troubled dreams.

"We should grab something to eat before we head to the church," Romani suggested, offering Rin a glance that conveyed his practical concern. "No sense rushing into things on an empty stomach. It will help us focus."

Rin nodded in agreement, though her mind was already racing ahead to what they might encounter at the church. Saber’s fate, Caster’s growing power---each thought sparked a new sense of urgency within her. She could feel the shift in the war, the growing tension as alliances and enemies blurred in unpredictable ways.

Galateya’s small hand found Romani’s, her grip tight as they all stepped outside. The morning air was cool, refreshing, but beneath the serenity of the waking city, an undercurrent of danger rippled, as if the world itself was holding its breath. As they made their way toward a small café, the streets of Fuyuki were eerily quiet. It felt unnatural, as though the city itself was an observer to the unseen war playing out in its shadow. They ate in relative silence, the weight of their thoughts dampening any conversation. Each of them knew the stakes, each harbored their own worries, but there was little to be done except press on.

Shirou broke the silence first, his voice hesitant, yet full of concern. “Do you think Kirei is still alive?”

Romani looked up from his coffee, his eyes distant as he considered the question. “From what I sensed last night, he probably is. Caster’s magic was powerful, but Kotomine Kirei---he is not someone who dies easily. He is quite resilient.”
