The heavily guarded castle was dimly lit, with rows of murals hanging on the walls. It was such a huge castle that one could get lost if one was not careful. A maid in a maid outfit was walking in the castle with a food box, on her way to deliver food to a special person imprisoned in the castle.
She felt a little resentful in her heart, wondering why she had to take on such a job. She had to be checked every time she went in, and the guards would always look at her with a disgusting look.
When she thought of this, she didn't want to go anymore and her steps up the stairs slowed down.
At this moment, a call came from behind her.
"Velise." The deep male voice seemed to dispel the coldness in the castle and brought a touch of warmth.
The maid stopped, turned around, and saw someone walking towards her.
The crisp sound of footsteps echoed, and the black boots stepped on the floor tiles with steady and rhythmic force. The man was tall and slender, with neat black short hair, a young and handsome face, no more than twenty years old, and his amber eyes seemed to be filled with smiles.
"Iverley." A charming smile appeared on Velisse's face. "Why are you here?"
The man did not answer but asked, "Why do you look so unhappy? Where are you going?"
Velisse sighed and started to worry again, "I want to go to the sixth floor to deliver food to that person, but..."
I saw that she looked torn.
Iverley asked, "Do you want me to help you?"
Velisse was surprised and asked, "Is it really possible?"
"Of course," said Iverley.
"Is this too much trouble for you?" Velisse said embarrassedly, "If others find out, it will cause trouble too..."
Iverley smiled and said, "It's okay. I just happened to be going to the sixth floor as well. The Earl asked me to go and see if the person was still alive. I'm just helping you by the way. Don't worry, I'll keep my mouth shut and no one will know."
"That's great!" Velisse laughed. She didn't have much suspicion of Iverley. Iverley had often helped her in this way in the past few days. She told her friends about this, and her friends all thought that Iverley probably wanted to pursue her.
Thinking of this, Velisse's face was a little shy. After handing him the lunch box, she put her hands together, hesitated for a while, pinched her earlobe, lowered her head and lifted her long hair on her shoulders, "Iverley, I'm taking a day off the day after tomorrow... I heard that the flowers on the back hill are about to bloom..."
Velisse raised her head with a red face, and was about to ask him out to appreciate the flowers together, but her voice stopped abruptly, and the words were stuck in her throat.
There was no Iverley in front of her; the place was empty and no one was in sight.
Velisse's expression suddenly became confused.
After Iverley got the target food box, he did not stay for long. He seemed to hear some talking downstairs. He stopped for a moment, but then he thought that it was not directed at him, so he walked upstairs without any burden.
He was carrying a few jugs of wine and a food box in his hands, and he strode up the stairs. When he came to a door, he was stopped by two guards, who checked him as usual.
Iverley has been here often these past two days and is an old acquaintance here. The guards on duty all know him.
Iverley gave them the wine, "This is the wine from Ellen's shop. You can't buy it normally."
