LILITH'S POV:
Sadly, it was a Monday again, and i hated Mondays. Mondays were the worst because they felt like the reset button on a game you didn't want to play. I had to muted up the strength to face the brutal reality of a new week, packed with endless assignments and, of course, the dreaded quizzes that always seem to be scheduled for that day. It was a cruel twist to start the week with the heaviest academic burden.

I woke up suddenly, startled by the alarm blaring beside my bed. Panic surged through me as i glanced at the clock. "Oh shit!" I groaned. I'd miss my first few classes already! I scrambled to get dressed, throwing on a pair of worn jeans snd a loose graphic tee that was a little to big for me. I hastily pulled on my favorite faded denim jacket, its soft fabric comforting against my skin. There was no time for finesse—just grab my bag, and i was out the door

I raced down the stairs, clutching my backpack as I rushed toward the lecture hall, my heart pounding in my chest. Each hurried step felt like a mini workout, and I desperately hoped I wouldn't be too late.

Finally, I arrived, out if breath and a little sweat, pausing for a moment to catch my breath before entering. I took a deep breath and turned the handle, trying to sneak in quietly, but the door creaked loudly, betraying my efforts. Heads turned to look at me, and I felt my cheeks head up. I spotted Olivia, and the surprise on her face mirrored my own as all eyes in the room fixated on me. My gaze locked into Ms.Elvira, my professor, who shot me a cold glare that made my stomach twist.

With her chin tilted upward, she worse a slight smirk that made it clear she was not impressed. I quickly returned
my attention to Olivia, whose eyes widened as she mouthed, "why are you late?"

I felt the unease creep back as Ms.Elvira's stare bore down on me, so i hurried to take the empty seat next to Olivia. "Dude the professor is having a bad day," Olivia whispered as i settled in, still trying to catch my breath.

"What happened? Why are you late?" she pressed, concern in her voice.

"I went out with my aunt last night," I admitted, feeling a bit sheepish. "I drank a little—nothing crazy, but I definitely didn't mean to be late to her class."

Before I could finish my explanation, Ms. Elvira's voice cut through the air like a whip. "You girls want to share something with the class?" Both of us jumped, and my stomach dropped. I managed to stutter out a meek, "No, ma'am."

Ms. Elvira's icy gaze bored into me as she replied coldly, "it seems some students think they can waltz in late without consequences. Perhaps I should assign you an xtra project to keep you busy." I felt my heart sunk further as i sank deeper into my chair, wishing I could disappear. After what felt like an eternity, the class finally came to an end. I quickly gathered my things, chatting with Olivia about our plans for lunch, but our conversation was abruptly interrupted.

"Lilith, stay behind," Ms. Elvira's voice rang out, and I glanced at Olivia, my eyes wide with worry. She leaned closer, whispering, "I'll see you at lunch. Text me about what happens. Good luck!" Her encouraging smile didn't quite ease my nerves as she slipped out the door.

I approached Ms Elvira's desk slowly, hear racing. She didn't even look at me as I stood there, anxiety swirling in my stomach. "So, you think you can be late and disturb my class?" she asked finally, her voice low and controlled.

I opened my mouth to respond but the words caught in my throat. I stayed silent, staring at her. When she finally glanced up, a smirk played on her lips, clearly enjoying my discomfort. I could see her appraisal in the way as she leaned back in her chair, legs crossed, confidence radiating from her.
