LILITHS POV;
The halls were quiet as I walked beside Olivia, my steps slow and heavy. The weight of the past few days had settled on my shoulders, each memory of Elvira's presence like a heat against my skin that wouldn't quite fade.
Olivia, ever the observant one, had noticed the change in me, the tension that hung around me like a thick fog.
"You're looking like you just walked through a storm," Olivia teased, her voice light and full of humor. She was walking beside me, her gaze flicking toward me with knowing amusement. "Did Elvira bite your head off again?"
I rolled my eyes, but the slight flush on my cheeks gave me away. "You don't even know half of it," I muttered, feeling the embarrassment wash over me again as I recalled every heated moment from the night before. "She—she was... intense. Like, really intense."
Olivia smirked. "Oh, I know exactly what you mean. You've been on her radar for a while now. I'm just waiting for you to realize she's got a thing for you."
I scoffed, trying to brush off the thought. "Please. She's just messing with me. I'm sure she does it with all the students."
Olivia laughed, clearly unconvinced. "Sure, sure. That's what they all say. But, Lilith, I've seen the way she looks at you. Trust me, it's more than just messing with you."
My stomach flipped at the thought. Olivia's words lingered, swirling in my mind as I walked with her, barely registering the passing halls.
The idea that Elvira was playing a game—or worse, had feelings for me—was both terrifying and... intoxicating.
Before I knew it, we'd reached the door to the detention room, and the dread started to settle in. My feet felt like lead as I turned toward Olivia, giving her a forced smile.
"Wish me luck," I said, my voice strained.
Olivia's grin was playful, but there was a knowing glint in her eyes. "You'll need it, trust me."
With a deep breath, I pushed the door open and stepped into the room. It was nearly empty, save for Elvira, who was sitting behind her desk with her usual composed posture.
Her dark, commanding presence filled the room, and I could feel her gaze on me even before I looked up.
I swallowed hard, trying to push away the nervous flutter in my chest. The tension from yesterday still lingered in my body, a kind of electric anticipation that I wasn't sure how to deal with.
I glanced up at Elvira, but she didn't say anything right away. She simply kept her head bent, scribbling something on her papers, the silence thick between us.
I hesitated for a moment, then finally made my way to my seat, trying to keep my composure, but everything felt so different now.
How could I forget what had happened between us? I couldn't, not when her touch was still so vivid in my mind.
And then, just as I was about to sit, I heard her voice. Cold. Icy. It sliced through the quiet like a blade.
"You're late, Miss Byrne."
I stiffened, my heart skipping. Her tone was detached, like she had completely erased whatever had happened between us.
She was acting so formal, so cold, as if nothing had occurred. "Of course," I thought bitterly. Elvira always knew how to shut down her emotions, how to pretend like nothing had happened. But I could still feel the way her knee had pressed between my legs the night before, the way her fingers had trailed along my skin.
