~ present day Thailand ~
Alpha Kiet had been in hospital for several days after Thorn and Thinnakorn had found him slumped on the floor of Sud's office, apparently he had fallen into some kind of a coma and the doctors were stumped.
All the tests had come back normal and negative but the results of the EEG showed abnormally high levels of brain activity so not knowing the cause they could only put it down to overwork and stress which Thorn accepted as an explanation because he was aware of how hard his dad worked.
He was told that his dad would wake up when his brain had rested fully but when he asked how long the doctors couldn't really give him an answer.
Korn's back had righted itself during the time that Alpha Kiet had been in the hospital and he was eternally grateful, he never wanted to go through that kind of pain again but his back was the least of his worries.
Thorn spent every waking moment by his fathers hospital bed holding his hand and chatting about the weather or something that had been on TV, anything that might make his dad wake up and Korn drove between the hospital and pack house bringing Thorn clean clothes and making sure that he ate.
"why don't you go home and get some sleep Thorn and I'll stay here with your dad?" Korn asked him when he arrived at the hospital to find Thorn fighting to stay awake in his chair by the bed.
"I'm ok baby, I need to stay here in case he wakes up" Thorn replied.
"but I'll be here and I can call you, please Thorn ... you're going to put yourself in this place if you carry on" Korn said.
"hey guys, how's Alpha Kiet?" Merrick said walking into the room.
"no change bro" Thorn replied before Korn spoke.
"I'm trying to make Thorn go home to get some sleep Merrick"
"you should Thorn, you've been here every night and every day since you found him, you need to rest as well, come on' let me take you back with me" Merrick said.
"ok but call me won't you baby" Thorn spoke to Thinnakorn.
"I promise I will so don't worry Thorn, I'll take care of my father in law" Korn smiled.
"is that what I think it means?" Thorn asked him.
"it means I love you Thorn, now go and get some sleep or I'll take it back" Korn threatened him.
"can I get a hug?" Thorn said and Korn walked into his outstretched arms and snuggled.
"I love you too baby" Thorn said before kissing him soundly then walking out of the room with Merrick.
Korn sat by his father in laws bed and was telling him all about his work and what had made him want to become a gemologist and at some point in the conversation alpha Kiet started mumbling in his comatose state as if he were trying to join in the conversation.
A nurse came into the room to check his stats and was a little concerned until Korn told her that his son said it was something he had done all his life.
"ah, he's a sleep talker" the nurse smiled and another nurse came into the room to take some blood.
"yeah, he just mumbles all night long but Thorn said he's always done it"
The nurse who had just entered the room stood to listen for a moment before speaking.
"that's not mumbling, he's speaking in old Burmese" she said.
