Scattered 'cross my family line

God, I have my father's eyes

But my sister's when I cry

I can run, but I can't hide

From my family line

When Embry Call says that his world was turned upside down when he imprinted, he means that literally. Because he fell over almost instantly.

Before it hit him, the first thing Embry could remember thinking was that her eyes weren't at all like he had pictured them. They used to be just eyes but then he saw them and the very ground beneath him just moved. Now they were the centre of his whole universe, the axis that the world revolved around, flickering from deep brown to brilliant gold and making him feel like he was being dragged from the Earth and thrown onto a rollercoaster that was moving at top speed, rushing and swirling through the air at about a million miles a minute.

You see, Embry already knew everything there was to know about imprinting... in theory. He thought about it all the time, imagined it, dreamt about what it would be like to finally find The One for himhe'd even get made fun of like crazy for daydreaming about it during patrols.

Plus, he's pretty much experienced it all through his pack mates via their telepathic link. Not to mention the stories they all told him and the way they'd all ramble on and on about their imprints every single time he'd patrol with one of them. So, you'd think he'd be prepared for when it actually happened to him. But no. Nothing could've prepared him for this. This wasn't some memory he was experiencing through another's eyes or some story he was being told. No. This was the real deal.

And honestly it took him a minute to fully comprehend what was happening because there was this moment of stillness. Where time stopped, the whole world faded away and it was just him and Jo. But that wasn't the first time Johara Black had made him feel like that so he didn't think much of it. And then he blinked. His world went dark for a split second and a thousand different sensations hit him all at once.

At first it was like he was crashing face-first into the ground, knocking the air straight out of his lungs. And then suddenly the ground was gone and he was just free-falling through time and space and everything was spinning but it was all just off. All of his usually heightened senses were thrown way out of whack and now he was just plummeting. Up was down, right was left, north was south, east was west, everything was all over the place and nothing made sense. The universe was all just one big chaotic, disorienting mess that was rearranging itself, tearing itself apart and then putting itself back together.
