A friend I never had....

You looked so pretty that I knew
From the first time I saw you I knew.
I knew that you would be on my mind
I can't call it love at first sight
But you helped me realize something new.

I still remembered seeing you in the midst of a crowd,
Didn't know the name or who you are
Yet I knew something would happen between us,
I don't know what to call it but I can't say it's love.

I have admired you from afar
Not only your looks but your interests as well.
I loved the way you looked,
Your perfect almond eyes and your height.

Getting to know you better I loved you more.
We got similar interests yet not alike at all
Like cold ice tea in warm weather,
And like the sun and moon so afar
Yet moving around the same likings.

You understood me in a way no one else had.
Going forward we became much closer,
Then you got married and I thought it was over
But I knew that it was not love but something more.

You have become my comfort zone, my safe place.
I talked with you more freely than others
And you never complained but listened showing interest.
Though I don't talk much but with you I could speak all day
As you've become my listener.

You helped me in every way,
You stood up to me and protected me,
You always showed concern
And never left me alone.

I have realized a lot through our relationship
It's not love but loyalty,
It's not a relationship but a friendship.
You have been my older brother whom I never had,
A friend I could always count on
And I'm really grateful for you
As I'm happy it turned out this way.
