Chapter 8
Breathing heavily, I screamed, “No! You can’t do that!”
“I will do what I want, for ‘I am your father’!” She yelled back; her evil laughter echoing throughout the room.
“You will never be my father! You cheat too much, and you just pushed me off of a cliff! Please help me back on! If you were truly my father, you’d help me!” I begged, for my life depended on it.
“I will never help you peasant, MWHAHAHA! You will LOSE! AGAIN!” She screamed at me, racing toward the finish line and passing it with three seconds left on the clock.
I threw my remote down and stood up. I glared down at a grinning from ear to ear Maddeline. “I call for a rematch! I let you win that one!”
“Yeah, like you let me win ALL of the other fifteen rematches? I don’t think so!” She sang.
“Well excuse me for trying not to make you feel like a loser! I’m your best friend! It’s only natural that I let you win!” I threw my hands in the air for emphasis.
She shook her head NO. Yup, I have to pull the card. . .
“I didn’t want it to have to get to this, but…” I got on my knees and begged her, “Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, PLEEEEEASE! Just ONE more game! PLEASE!” I unleashed the puppy dog face, and watched as she slowly gave in.
She huffed out a, “FINE! But this is the LAST time!”
“Yes!” I screamed and jumped up and down like a maniac.
“I’m not going to play with you again if you keep doing that. . .” She looked at me like a Lunatic.
My eyes widened as I quickly settled down back into my seat. “Let’s do this,” I said menacingly, restarting the race.
. . .
“I can do this. There’s nothing wrong about talking to a person who may or may not think I’m crazy. I’m not crazy. I can do this, I can do this, I can do this.” I stopped pacing the room and walked up to the door, grasping its cold, silver knob in my warm hand. “I can’t do this!” I released my light grip and walked away from the door again. This was not good. I can’t even go into his office.
“Did you hear me Ms. Howard? I said you’re up! So, go on in,” The clerk told me. I looked at her with a crazy look masked on my face. I can do this.
I stiffly nodded my head, and then slowly walked to the door. My hand grasping the cold door knob again, I froze. Can I do this?
