Jeremy had managed to rescue his guitar and, while it was a little burnt, the strings survived so it was still playable.

"I'm so sorry I burned your guitar, Jeremy" said Patty. "But I was just so upset that you might have been falling for Mademoiselle here."

"What is the meaning of this?" said Fleur.

"I don't know, but I think our breakup has something to do with it" said Jeremy.

"You and she broke up? I wonder why" said Fleur sarcastically.

Jeremy looked at Patty. "Patty, why do you care so much about who I date? When we were fishing, you said you just wanted to be friends."

"I only said that because you said you just wanted to be friends" said Patty.

"I only said that because I thought you didn't like me in that way."

"Well, I do like you."

"I like you more!"

"That's not possible!"

Jeremy paused and suddenly felt calmer. "It isn't?"

Realizing what she'd said, Patty laughed awkwardly. "I guess not."

"Then.. what do we do now?" said Jeremy.

"I dunno" said Patty.

"Ask the girl out, Brit boy!" said Buff.

"Yeah" Melvin agreed.

"Man, pretty people are dumb" said Melvin.

Jeremy held Patty's hand with a hopeful expression.

"Patty... would you please be my girlfriend?" he said.

"Yeah... I would. And I will" said Patty.

"Wait a minnit" Brer Vulture intervened. "Have you thot diss throo, Brer Jeremy?"

"I'm sorry?" said Jeremy.

"Sis Patty cums here uninvited, your guitar winds up in de fire and now you's datin'?" said Brer Vulture.

"I know. Isn't it romantic?" said Patty.

"I believe what the vulture means is, you asked a woman out. Chad wins the bet" said Jill.

"I do, don't I?" said Chad. "I knew you couldn't last."

"Congratulations, Chad the lad" said Jeremy.

"I should be congratulating you, Jeremy" said Chad. "You got your luv back."

"Sorry to interrupt you" said Fleur. "But if you are here, mon cher, who is looking after your domicile?"

"She's right" said Chad. "If Patty's here, does that mean Burt's trying to supervise hundreds of critters alone?"

"Yeah. But he'll be fine" said Patty. "He's got them doing puzzles and reading sci-fi, and later he's gonna show them how to use the Batzooka."

Then she thought that through. "He's a goner!"
